I know—we still have plenty of summer left, but some of us are spooky lovers year-round. And as a shopping editor, I think it's smart to shop for Halloween decorations early, especially when there's a risk they'll sell out. In this case, there definitely is.

Every year, shoppers eagerly await the return of oversized Halloween décor, particularly giant skeletons. They tend to go viral every summer, when retailers start restocking their Halloween inventory.

Costco, for one, just brought back its 62-inch Giant Ground Breaking Skeleton with LCD Eyes and Sound both online and in stores. And while 5 feet may not sound all that giant, that's only the upper half of the skeleton. It's designed to look like it's crawling out of the ground, creating the illusion that it's twice as tall.

Beyond his massive size (he’s also more than 9 feet long and 4 feet wide), the giant Costco skeleton has plenty of spooky features. Motion-sensor activation triggers haunting sounds with adjustable volume, while its glowing, moving eyes are sure to spook anyone who gets too close.

A timer lets you turn off the effects after six hours, and four "C" batteries are required (they're included). Same-day delivery is available, depending on your location.

For my smart shoppers out there, the skeleton is part of Costco Direct, a savings program that rewards you for buying more. Here's how it works:

  • Buy 2 Items, Save $100
  • Buy 3 Items, Save $200
  • Buy 4 Items, Save $300
  • Buy 5 or more Items, Save $400

This means if you buy a second Costco Direct item, you can save $100. Note that the offer is only valid online and lasts through July 25. And it might go without saying, but remember that you can only shop at Costco if you’re a member.

In case you wanted to shop other giant skeletons before making the purchase, I’ve included a few more below from other retailers. Some don’t have sound or light effects, but they stand up to 8 feet tall.
