Hallmark has found a special way to honor Dolly Parton.
On August 25, the world was heartbroken to learn that the country music legend had died at age 80 from cancer. While Dolly was best known for her music, she also starred in several TV shows and movies, including Hallmark’s Christmas at Dollywood. The film debuted in 2019, and Dolly starred alongside Danica McKellar and Niall Matter.
After the star’s death, X user @NowWatchingXmas asked Hallmark whether the network could air the movie to honor Dolly.
“@hallmarkchannel, any chance of you reshowing Christmas at Dollywood in honor of Dolly sometime in the next few days?” read the August 25 post. “Obviously I own it so I can watch whenever. But I think an airing in her honor would be really nice.”
The network replied: “Christmas at Dollywood will air Friday 8/28 at 6/5c on Hallmark Channel. (and is available anytime on Hallmark+).”
Fans were grateful to Hallmark for the move.
“Thank you for showing this movie. It’s one of my favorites,” one person wrote in the comments. “Thank you so much @hallmarkchannel it was a special movie & now even more meaningful ❤️🦋,” another agreed. “As it should! Thank you Hallmark!” a different follower added.
This isn’t Dolly’s only movie role. She also appeared in projects like Joyful Noise, Steel Magnolias, and 9 to 5. She released Dolly Parton’s Christmas in the Square on Netflix in 2020.
