OK, High Potential fans. It’s time to get real about the future of this show.

With season 2 officially done filming and season 3 in the works at ABC, it’s time to see what’s truly going on with Morgan Gillory (Kaitlin Olson) and Detective Adam Karadec (Daniel Sunjata) at the LAPD Major Crimes division. And given how there’s always some new case for these two to solve, it only makes sense that folks would want to see even more of them.

Unfortunately, we have some difficult news to share about High Potential. After the season 2 finale premieres on April 7, 2026, at 9 p.m. ET on ABC, there won’t be new episodes for some time.

When will High Potential return?

As of now, ABC hasn’t officially announced when High Potential will return for season 3. But given how the last two seasons were part of the fall TV lineup, it’s likely that High Potential season 3 will return with new episodes sometime in the fall of 2026 on ABC.

What will the High Potential season 2 finale be about?

Even though it’ll be some time before High Potential season 3 airs, at least we have the season 2 finale to look forward to.

The episode, titled “Family Tree,” will see Morgan and Karadec solve a murder when a woman is found dead at the hotel where Karadec’s girlfriend, Lucia (Susan Kelechi Watson), works. Given this complication, fans won’t know if the two manage to find the culprit in time … but you can see what’s to come thanks to the sneak peek the show dropped on Instagram.

“Somebody better have answers 😤,” the caption read. “This mama doesn't play when it comes to her kids! Watch the #HighPotential season finale Tuesday at 9/8c on ABC and stream on Hulu.”

Looks like we have some investigating to do…
