The Handmaid’s Tale spinoff series, The Testaments, airs on April 8 on Hulu.
Fans want to know if Elisabeth Moss will reprise her role as June Osborne.
Elisabeth spoke out on the possibility of her making a cameo in The Handmaid’s Tale sequel.
The Handmaid’s Tale’s sequel is officially here … but does that mean we get to see past stars again?
Ever since the final episode of The Handmaid’s Tale aired in May 2025, longtime fans have eagerly awaited the chance to see what’s next in Gilead. Now, they’ll get to do just that, with the first three episodes of The Testaments premiering on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, on Hulu.
Set four years after the events of the original series, this show follows Hannah (Chase Infiniti) and other young women in Gilead. As Hannah copes with the idea of being married off and living a life of service to her husband, she must search for allies as she fights to build a new life.
If the name Hannah sounds familiar, that’s because she’s the long-lost daughter of June Osborne (Elisabeth Moss) and Luke Bankole (O-T Fagbenle). Given how the majority of The Handmaid’s Tale followed June looking for her daughter, who had been kidnapped by Gilead and renamed Agnes MacKenzie, it only makes sense that the next phase in the franchise would follow the next generation.
With all of that in mind, we had to wonder: Is Elisabeth Moss in The Testaments?
When Elisabeth spoke with TV Insider in March 2025, the outlet asked her about reprising June in The Testaments. While she didn’t say whether she’d make an appearance, Elisabeth (who’s also an executive producer for the new series) hinted that there’s a chance she pops up in the sequel.
“I mean, ‘No,’” she teased to the outlet at the time. “[But] I would totally lie to you if I was!”
When she was asked the same question during an appearance on The View in March 2026, Elisabeth said her new role has her thrilled not to have to leave Gilead entirely.
“It’s been really, really cool, and it meant I didn’t have to say goodbye to the world, which I was very happy about,” she explained in a clip posted on Instagram. “And obviously, getting to be a part of anything that Chase is a part of is so exciting. It’s such an honor, and it’s cool.”
Although the jury is still out on Elisabeth making a cameo on The Testaments, there are some key figures from The Handmaid’s Tale fans can look out for in the new series. Ann Dowd reprises her role as Aunt Lydia. And given how this franchise is known for its curveballs, we can only hope that more original characters will appear at some point.
We’re crossing our fingers to see Elisabeth as June soon!
