Wheel of Fortune announced a new tournament that’s running throughout April 2026.
The TV show is doing the “Spring Forward” giveaway, allowing winners to return for more episodes and the chance to win more money.
This is the first time since the 1990’s that Wheel of Fortune is doing something like this.
In its long history, Wheel of Fortune hasn’t made too many changes, so when it does, fans have something to say about it.
Case in point: This month, the show dropped an unexpected twist—and it’s one fans likely didn’t even realize was happening.
Over the last few weeks, the hit game show has adapted what they call the “Spring Forward” tournament. What’s this, you may ask? Well, according to a report from TV Insider, contestants who have won previous Wheel of Fortune episodes get to come back the next day to try and win more money than before.
And while the idea of competitors coming back to play more Wheel of Fortune games hasn’t happened since the late1990s, this month, as long as the contestant keeps on winning, they can come back for as many episodes as they please.
So how do fans feel about the unexpected change? Well, when folks took to Reddit to talk about it, it turned out many were into the idea of this becoming a more regular thing.
“I love this idea! 💡,” one person wrote. “I don't mind it. I think it would be good to see a Wheel of Fortune super champion just win day after day. It's always so clear the people who actually know the game versus the people that seem like they just accidentally walked in the door and they put them on stage,” another theorized in a different thread. “I actually like it ... a lot. I really liked when they used to do the Friday (or maybe Thursday?) show where it was the top 3 winners of the week,” a different follower added.
On the other hand, some viewers had different takes about the “Spring Forward” tournament on Wheel of Fortune—including what they’d prefer the show to to do instead.
“I think the show should have a ‘two-spin guarantee.’ Every contestant gets to spin the Wheel at least twice. If they don’t, they get to come back. Some contestants have only spun once and lost their turn, and never got another spin,” one person commented. “I'd be open to allowing contestants who only won the minimum to be able to return again or have 1 or 2 second chance weeks during the season,” another agreed. “What I think would be more interesting than returning champions is going along the route of Pointless and having contestants who didn’t make it to the bonus round be allowed back on the next show to try again, but if they lose the second time they’re gone for good,” a different follower noted.
While we still have time before “Spring Forward” wraps up, tell us—what do you think about all of this?
