Netflix announced in February 2025 that it would debut a reimagined version of Little House on the Prairie.
The Little House on the Prairie reboot premieres on Netflix on July 9, 2026, and the streamer released a first-look promo.
Fans had lots of concerns about the sneak peek, and star Luke Bracey addressed the comments ahead of the premiere.
The Little House on the Prairie reboot hasn’t even dropped yet … but viewers already have some thoughts about it.
Back in February 2025, fans of the original drama were thrilled to learn Netflix was reimagining the story of the Ingalls family for today’s TV-watchers. Alice Haley portrays Laura Ingalls, joined by Luke Bracey (Charles Ingalls), Crosby Fitzgerald (Caroline Ingalls), Skywalker Hughes (Mary Ingalls), and more.
Netflix dropped a promo for Little House on the Prairie ahead of its premiere on Thursday, July 9, 2026.
“The Ingalls’ journey begins,” the caption read alongside the two-minute trailer on YouTube on June 11. “Little House on the Prairie, based on the beloved books, premieres July 9, only on Netflix.”
While many fans were excited to see Netflix’s take on the 50-year-old show, others had a warning for the streamer.
“Netflix don’t screw this up! The original and the books are amazing. Keep it that way please,” one person begged in the comments. “Man… they better not mess this up,” another noted. “Oh, please don’t destroy this classic series,” a different follower added.
While we won’t know what to expect until we watch the reboot, we do know that the cast is aware of how connected viewers were to the original series. As Luke noted in an interview with TV Insider, he’s excited about how people may think differently of the Ingalls family after watching the Netflix adaptation.
“There’s a real Trojan horse element to this show,” he noted to the outlet. “People, I think, are going to watch it expecting one thing, and thinking maybe they are going to know what’s going to happen or what it’s going to be like. I think they’ll find some really interesting journeys and lessons they are going to take from this that they probably wouldn’t expect. And maybe they’ll see a little bit of a mirror to their own lives and their current situation, and where they are in life now.”
