We know it's only July, but John Lewis has managed to get us counting down the days until Christmas already thanks to a sneaky lil preview we've just had of its 2026 Christmas collection. And while there are four beautiful themes to choose from, there's one thing we haven't been able to stop thinking about: the adorable family of collectible Yetis that feature in the brand new campaign.
This year's collection is centered around the joy of collecting treasured decorations that become part of your festive traditions. Think whimsical characters, nostalgic keepsakes and ornaments you'll look forward to unpacking every December, rather than trends that only last one season.
As soon as we saw the photos, we couldn't help but get that same warm, protective feeling we have towards Paddington Bear. The Yetis might be mischievous, but they're impossibly lovable, and we already know we'd struggle to stop at buying just one. Think of them as the Labubu of Christmas. We've been told the range will start rolling out into stores around September time, which will be here before we know it!
Here's everything you need to know about John Lewis's biggest Christmas decorating trends for 2026:
The Enthusiast
If Christmas is all about color for you, then this is the collection for you. It takes inspiration from pop culture and childhood memorabilia, bursting with bold color, fluffy pom-poms, faux fur hearts and, of course, those adorably sweet Yetis. Each plush Yeti is said to hail from a different part of the UK, complete with its own personality and whimsical story, making them feel less like decorations and more like treasured collectibles. How many is too many? We're thinking about storing them all over the house for a pop of whimsical!
They're joined by equally playful Yeti baubles, colourful wrapping paper and festive tableware with slogans like 'I'm Stuffed', 'Tummy Time Out' and 'Merry Sproutmas'. It's totally joyful and exactly the sort of Christmas decorating we'd have adored as children, and still want now.
The Cherisher
If your favorite decorations are the ones that have been lovingly wrapped in tissue paper for decades, The Cherisher is likely to steal your heart. Built around the idea of heirloom decorations passed down through generations, this collection embraces homely, cozy nostalgia with felt mouse baubles, tiny wooden houses, honeycomb paper decorations and deep berry reds paired with forest green.
The little family of felt mice is particularly charming, giving a timeless appeal as the decorations many of us remember hanging on the tree as children and feel like the sort of ornaments you'll happily bring out year after year.
The Connoisseur
For anyone who loves glamorous Christmas decorating, The Connoisseur offers a more luxurious take on the festive season. Drawing inspiration from the glamour of the Art Deco era, you'll find metallic finishes, pearl-effect oyster shells (an instant favorite), shimmering conch shells and elegant glass baubles in silver, gold and navy.
It's sophisticated without feeling overly formal and would suit anyone looking to create an elegant, hotel-inspired Christmas at home, and doesn't feel like it would go out of style for future Christmases to come.
The Curator
Perhaps the most unexpected collection of the four, The Curator feels like stepping into a Victorian curiosity cabinet. Glass beetles, butterflies, snails and beautifully frosted fruit sit alongside jewel-toned baubles, antique-inspired tableware and botanical details that celebrate the natural world.
John Lewis says this year's collection celebrates "the joy that comes with collecting and gathering treasured items that bring festive cheer into the home," and that's exactly how it feels, just by looking at the photos.
While we'll always have a soft spot for traditional red and gold, it's the colorful Yetis that have completely won us over, and we suspect these will be everywhere for Christmas 2026. Despite it only being July, we're already wondering which one we'll be taking home first.
