As an analyst in the Textiles, Paper & Apparel Lab, I spend plenty of time evaluating sheets, pillows, and other bedding. But when it comes to my own home, I admit that I can sometimes get a little lax with storing my bedding. There's truly nothing I despise more than folding and hanging my clothes and sheets, so my sheets often end up in a messy pile. Or at least, they used to before I came up with this pillowcase sheet storage trick.
This hack is simple, but effective. It keeps everything organized, which helps me dread this chore a little bit less. Plus, it's a good way for me to see which of my sheet sets are mismatched or missing a component, which lets me know what to declutter from the linen closet.

The sheet hack that keeps my linen closet organized
My new and improved solution to folding and storing my bed sheets: Bundle them all together. It may seem too simple, but outside of finally learning how to fold a fitted sheet (okay, I still need my husband's help to do it right), this has been the greatest improvement to putting my bedding away. Here's how it works:
✔️ Fold your bed sheets like you normally would, except for one of your pillowcases. Leave it to the side.
✔️ Stack the sheets nicely together. I put my flat sheet on the bottom, then my fitted sheet, then a pillowcase.
✔️ Open the extra pillowcase, and slide your stack of sheets inside.
✔️ Fold the remaining pillowcase fabric around your sheets for compact storage.
Ta-da! That's all there is to it. Now, the sheets stay nicely in place on your shelf without sliding off onto the floor or getting jumbled up in your drawer, and you'll never lose a pillowcase again. It may not be the most advanced organization hack in the world, but it keeps my closet and my bed looking a touch nicer, and my coworkers described it as "Genius!" when I shared it with the team. I'll take it.
