My hair never seems to hold a curl, and even if it did, I honestly don’t have the patience to blow-dry and style my hair every time I wash it. I’ve tried multiple curling irons, I’ve experimented with using a straightener to curl my hair, and I’ve even slept with my hair wrapped around socks for heatless curls. They all left my hair looking great…for about an hour or two. So, when I tried the Dreame Airstyle Pro Hair Styler, I was blown away that my blowout and curls lasted all day long, and my hair even looked voluminous the following morning.
This multi-style hair tool launched in April 2025, but I’m here to tell you that it’s the new budget-friendly alternative to the Shark FlexStyle and Dyson Airwrap. Our editors and experts in the Good Housekeeping Institute Beauty Lab are fans of the Shark FlexStyle and Dyson Airwrap, but I was wary of splurging on such an expensive hair tool after so many had left me disappointed in the past. So, when I saw the Dreame Airstyle Pro Hair Styler’s $250 price tag, I figured it was worth a shot (hint: I’m so happy I tried it!).
What is the Dreame AirStyle Pro Hair Styler?
With multiple attachments, you can blow-dry, curl, straighten, and style your hair with this one tool. My bathroom is tiny, which makes it difficult to store multiple hair tools. For years, I’ve been shoving my blow dryer, straightener, curling iron, and hair dryer brush in the same drawer. Now, I have everything I need in the Dreame AirStyle Pro Hair Styler faux leather case, and I don’t have to worry about tangled wires.
So, how does it work? The brand’s JetAirflow technology allows you to dry your hair quickly, and the brand claims its smart heat control protects hair from heat damage while styling. It has three fan speed options and three heat levels, plus a switch for a quick blast of cool air (this comes in handy for setting a curl!). The handle itself is comfortable to hold, and it’s easy to quickly click the buttons in the midst of styling your hair.
Each of the attachments serve their own purpose (more on that below), but the curling barrels and straightening brushes style and dry damp hair at the same time. Not only did this save me a ton of time getting ready, but I also believe it was the key to helping my hair finally hold a curl.
What comes with the Dreame AirStyle Pro Hair Styler?
This multi-styler tool comes with a large faux leather case that holds seven different attachments and the handle with its power cord. Here are all the pieces that come with your $250 purchase:
- Faux leather case
- Handle with power cord and speed/power control buttons
- Fast dryer
- Flyaway attachment
- Left 32mm auto-wrap barrel
- Right 32mm auto-wrap barrel
- Hard smoothing brush
- Soft smoothing brush
- Round volumizing brush
- Air intake filter cleaning brush
While $250 is still a hefty price (it can be less when on sale), this high-quality hair tool comes with a luxe box for all of the multiple attachments that serve as different hair tools. So, if you added up the price you’d pay for each of these tools, this is actually quite a steal. I do wish it came with a diffuser attachment for those with curly hair, though.
Plus, the Dyson Airwrap is $650, and the Shark Flexstyle is $370, so the Dreame AirStyle Pro is the most budget-friendly option for a hair tool with all of these attachments. If you’re looking for an even less expensive option, the Everyday Essential Set is only $200 ($180 on sale!) and comes with five attachments, but you’ll miss out on the flyaway attachment, hard smoothing brush, and soft smoothing brush.
My thoughts on the Dreame AirStyle Pro attachments
Fast dryer
The brand recommends drying your hair halfway with the fast dryer attachment (pictured) before styling with the other attachment options. The brand claims it should take 40 seconds for short hair, two minutes for medium hair, and four minutes for long hair to dry the entire head halfway with this attachment. After washing my hair, it takes the fast dryer attachment about three minutes for me to get my long, fine hair from wet to damp (keep in mind, I always let my hair air dry for a bit and dry it with a towel first since it is not recommended to immediately blow dry sopping wet hair).
I love that this dries my hair so quickly so that I can get to styling right away, but it is a wide dryer with no concentrator (or nozzle). As someone with fine hair, I have to use the lowest or middle fan power with a brush to prevent my hair from being blown around and getting tangled.
Two auto-wrap barrels
Now this is what I’m talking about, y’all, when I say I love this hair tool. Once my hair is damp, I separate the lower and upper layers with a claw clip to make this process easier. This attachment grabs a piece of hair with 360° spiral airflow and wraps the hair around the barrel. Not only is this a fun process, but it’s actually easier for me to use than a traditional curling iron, as someone who gets wrist pain and hand cramps, because there’s no twisting my wrist or pressing on a clamp.
I start on the high heat setting to dry the damp piece of hair in this curled position, and then I blast it with cold air for a few seconds. This helps lock the curl in place, and in my personal experience, nothing has ever worked so well for my hair. When I use this attachment, my hair stays curled all day, and it even looks bouncy the following morning. It doesn’t look as perfectly curled the next day, but the ends look like they’re flowing outwards, and my hair has more movement (it’s giving Victoria’s Secret model hair!).
Styling hair when damp can help it last longer since it dries in that position, which is why I’ve found some success with overnight sock curls on damp hair. However, this left my hair messy and frizzy, was uncomfortable to sleep with, and didn’t look perfect. Using a curling iron on damp hair is a huge no-no because it can severely damage your hair, but airwrap barrels like these allow you to dry and curl damp hair to create a style that’ll stay in place all day.
There are two 1.25-inch barrels, one that curls the hair clockwise and the other curls it counterclockwise. I either stick to one direction for each side of my head for that fresh blowout style, or I sometimes alternate throughout to create a more voluminous curly look. Switching the attachments on this tool is easy, but the barrels get a bit hot, so I use a hand towel to grab them when I need the next barrel. If you’re looking for tighter curls or very large curls, this may not be the product for you. But, if you like looser, medium-sized curls that fall into a bouncy blowout, then these barrels are the perfect size.
Round volumizing brush
When I want a bouncy blowout rather than curls, I reach for the round volumizing brush. I’m a clumsy, uncoordinated girl, so I’ve always found it difficult to use a hair dryer and round brush to style my hair, not to mention heavy (I don’t know how hairstylists do it all day!). This attachment is similar to a hair dryer brush, which lets me dry my hair as I curl the ends upwards, all with one hand.
My hair glided through this brush’s bristles easily, and it left my hair looking smooth and my roots voluminous. As someone who could never create a blowout at home, this tool made it so much easier for me to style my layers and face-framing pieces. Plus, it’s a bit quicker to use than the barrels, so when I didn’t have the time or didn’t want curly hair, I reached for this attachment.
I have decently long hair, but it’s on the thinner side, so the size of this attachment was perfect for me. If you have thicker, coarser hair, you may want a bigger brush than this since it can only brush through small sections of hair at a time.
Hard and soft smoothing brushes
Both the hard and soft smoothing brushes serve the same purpose, but each is for a different type of hair. These attachments straighten and smooth hair similarly to how a flat iron styles hair, but the hard brush is for fine hair and the soft brush is for coarse hair.
I have thin to medium-thick hair, so I only tried the hard brush, which left my hair looking sleek, shiny, and straight. My hair dries a bit wavy and frizzy, but mostly straight. I found it easier to make my hair look smooth than with a regular hair dryer, and it didn’t look as flat on my head as my hair does when I use a straightener. It also left my hair straighter than the round volumizing brush attachment. However, when I’m spending time styling my hair, I like it to be voluminous and to make the layers look bouncy, so I don’t reach for this attachment often.
If I had thick curly hair and wanted to straighten it, I think I’d appreciate this attachment much more since it dries and smooths hair quickly. These brushes only come in the full set, so you won’t get them if you opt for the less expensive Everyday Essential Set.
Flyaway attachment
This attachment is meant to smooth frizz and flatten baby hairs to give them the ultimate shiny, sleek look. When the humidity is high, my hair can get frizzy, so I know this attachment will be my best friend when I just want to quickly smooth out my hair on a hot summer day without fully styling it. I typically cannot get a straightener close to my scalp, so I like that I can use this attachment after styling my hair to smooth out flyaways from my roots to my ends.
However, I had a difficult time using this tool. It’s a bit confusing, and since I don’t mind the flyaways on my head that much, I typically skip it. It’s also not included in the Everyday Essential Set, which makes sense as it feels more like a tool that’s used as an extra step to make hair extra smooth and glamorous.
Bottom line: Is the Dreame Airstyle Pro Hair Styler worth it?
Listen, I can’t tell you how to spend your money—but yes, it’s 100% worth it, especially if you want to curl your hair and your hair struggles with holding styles. Additionally, if you don’t have multiple hair tools yet or you haven’t bought pricey hair tools yet, then I think this $250 purchase is worth it since it can style your hair multiple ways. That way, you’re splurging once on a high-quality item rather than spending a similar amount per tool (curling iron, hair dryer, and flat iron).
While $250 may seem pricey, this tool is extremely similar to the Shark FlexStyle and Dyson Airwrap, both of which are hundreds of dollars more than the Dreame Airstyle Pro Hair Styler. Keep in mind that it doesn’t have a swivel arm, a large oval brush, or a diffuser like the Shark FlexStyle, but the attachments were varied enough for me to create multiple styles and were suitable for my hair type. In my opinion, the price difference is a huge reason why you should opt for the Dreame tool, unless you are specifically looking for a diffuser.
If you have hair that dries thin and straight like mine, I think you can save even more money and buy the Everyday Essential Set instead (especially if you own a flat iron that you like). The three attachments that don’t come with the Everyday Essential Set are meant to straighten and smooth your hair, so I think they’d be more beneficial for those with thick, wavy, or curly hair trying to straighten it.
Most importantly, I found this to be the easiest hair tool I’ve ever tried (and that’s not even an exaggeration). It’s lightweight, so my arms don’t hurt halfway through styling, and the buttons are simple. I’ve always struggled with curling my hair or creating a blowout, so my hair never looked how I wanted it to for an important day. Now, when I have an event like a wedding or party, I use the fast dryer and auto-wrap barrel attachments, and my hair looks the best it has ever looked in about 30 to 40 minutes. I used to be disappointed when my hair would look nice, and it’d be flat or frizzy by the time I left the house, but now my hair stays looking amazing all day. Needless to say, this is my favorite item in my house right now, and you bet it’ll be staying with me until my hair is gray!
