As a toy editor, there are a few toy trends I’m used to seeing almost every year—and one topic that always seems to captivate kids is sharks. Every year since Jaws debuted in the ‘70s, toy companies seem to outdo themselves with new shark-themed toys.

Since Shark Week kicks off on Sunday, July 26, I found 16 of my favorite shark-themed toys every kid (or adult!) is sure to love—whether they're just beginning their shark obsession or already know every species by heart.

Whale sharks are having a huge moment in toy trends right now, and I’m particularly obsessed with this huggable Jellycat plush version. But if you’re more into the classic great white shark, this LEGO set inspired by Jaws is slated to retire soon. And of course, there are plenty of underwater toys for the pool or bathtub, too. Just be prepared for plenty of shark-filled adventures.

This remote control vehicle has a bit of a bite. It attaches to the remote on a long, 28-inch chain—and once it busts loose, you can make this fun toy do wheelies and spins.

Sharks can get a bad rap as scary creatures, but the whale shark in particular is a gentle giant. Just look at the face and delicate spots on this nearly 16-inch plush toy, and you’ll see how perfect they are for snuggling.

The Creator 3-in-1 sets are some of my personal favorite LEGO gifts, since they can be re-made into three completely different builds. This one can be built as a shark, manta ray, or anglerfish, and it also comes with a treasure chest and crab for even more fun. Kids can assemble the shark, then take it apart and use the same bricks to make the other creatures—so they’ll always be busy with something to build.

This diver action figure braves shark-filled waters from the comfort of a shark cage. This comes with a boat and a great white for pretend play, and we like that it’s designed to be used in the bathtub or on land.

Make bath time or pool time a lot more entertaining with this remote-control whale shark. This one can swim in circles if you want it to, and the articulated, flexible tail makes this look more realistic as it glides through the water.

It’s a puzzle and a model in one, but the coolest part is that once they’ve figured out how to put the pieces together, it moves. It comes with everything they’ll need to make the shark, along with the light-up and motion elements.

Just pop this battery-operated toy into the pool and it will instantly take off. There’s no need to keep track of a remote control; this shark is water-activated and will just keep swimming at various speeds and patterns until you take it out (or the AAA batteries die).

Kids use a fishing rod to try and save fish from the mouth of a shark in this easy-to-learn game. Just don’t accidentally pull the wrong fish, or the mouth will snap, ending their turn.

If the science lover is more curious about the inside of the shark than the outside, they can slice this open open to examine the bones and organs that are inside. The bones glow in the dark for an eerie effect, and it comes with a mold and refill kit if they want to recreate their dissection.

Tiger sharks can be pretty dangerous, but not this stuffed replica that’s cute and cuddly. It’s over a foot long so there’s lots to snuggle up with, and the distinctive stripes make this one feel special.

Magna-Tiles are a great learning toy for kids, and this aquatic-themed set heads under the sea. It comes with a diver, shark, and pieces that look like the bottom of the ocean. These tiles can be used alone, or combined with any other Magna-Tiles to make their own creations and play sets.

If you thought it was safe to go back in the water, think again. This set is for the adult builder who truly loves the famous movie, Jaws. It’s packed with details from the movie and can be displayed in multiple different ways. But you’ll want to hurry: this set is retiring at the end of July, which means it’s about to be a lot harder (and more expensive) to find.

This stunt set puts your child’s Hot Wheels cars in imminent danger of being chomped if the car is launched too softly. This can be used with any of the Hot Wheels they might have, and kids can take turns seeing whose car gets gobbled up.

I love the LEGO keychains; not only do they look like minifigures, but they have a built-in flashlight to help you locate missing items in the depths of your backpack. I like to keep them on my keys so I can find the door in the dark, but they’re also great for back-to-school season—and this one comes dressed in a smart shark suit.

I couldn’t make a list of sharks without adding one of the most famous of them all. This Baby Shark toy sings the famous song you’ll get stuck in your head, but your little ones will adore its big eyes and welcoming smile.

This one isn’t technically a toy, but if they want to play dress-up, this shark hoodie is the way to go. It’s a functional blanket that will keep them cozy from head to toe while looking like their favorite sea creature. It comes in multiple sizes.
