Do you remember the day the “Amazon coat,” a.k.a. the Orolay puffer went viral? I was there. My old boss Oprah might have had something to do with that when she declared it was one of her favorite things in 2019. Last year, she put a modernized version on her list that reviewers say is “deceptively warm” and is right in line with this season’s cropped jacket trend.
That said, we still stand by the OG. (Our Textiles Lab ranked it high for its value in our curation of the best winter coats). Our consumer testers said, "It's great for the rain,” and it “keeps cold air out.” It also features ventilating zippers and adjustable snaps along each side so you can loosen the fit, without overheating. Plus, it has deep pockets if you’re in the fellow cold hands, warm heart club.
And, it happens to be on sale right now ahead of Prime Day. It now comes in modish cherry red (as seen on several fall 2026 runways) and I’m kind of vibing this fleece version.
Orolay also makes a chic trench for fall. It has the traditional notched lapels, belted waist, and double-breasted style, so it’s a great way to get the classic look for less. Just note: it’s water-repellant instead of resistant. It’ll still keep you dry, but if heavy rains are on the forecast, I’d stick to something a bit more substantial. File this one under F for fashion.
