This s'mores maker is so cute that I wouldn't mind leaving it out on the counter or dinner table when it's snack (or should I say s'more) time. Not only did it do a fantastic job at churning out golden campfire-style marshmallows and 5-star s’mores, but it earned high praise from our Kitchen & Cooking Lab experts for its ease of use and thoughtful design. I absolutely loved how you can place graham crackers and chocolate on the maker’s sides so it warms up (and the chocolate melts) as you roast your marshmallows.
I also liked how this maker is suitable for indoor or outdoor use, but it’s critical to buy a 6.1-oz gel can, or extinguishing the flame can be a hassle. And though I'll admit that waiting 10 minutes for the ceramic plate to preheat left me feeling a bit impatient, the overall experience and perfect s'mores were well worth the wait.

If you need a s’mores maker that’ll feed several hungry mouths at once, this pick is for you. It can make six s’mores per batch and comes at a great price. To get going, all you need is an oven, a toaster oven, or a grill, and some oven mitts (and ingredients, of course). Because you have to preheat the oven or grill, it isn’t the fastest option on this list, but the final result is well worth the wait. When I tested it in my own kitchen, I ended up with six fantastic warm s’mores.
While you'll miss the hands-on fun of roasting marshmallows, and this maker can't quite replicate that classic campfire-style, golden marshmallow sliding off the stick, it does deliver irresistibly melty chocolate and gooey marshmallows. Though the basket requires a bit of finagling to open with oven mitts, I appreciated that it cooled down quickly, so it won't take long before you can enjoy your s'mores and prep another batch.
Our Lab pros suggest keeping a close watch while making these, so you don’t accidentally overcook your s’mores and end up with messy chocolate and marshmallows everywhere. But if you do, a quick rinse of the basket in the sink should do the trick.

This s'mores maker stood out for how quickly and effectively it produced golden marshmallows. The electric grill heated up in five to 10 minutes, and the plastic tray, which breaks apart for easy storage, was quick to assemble. Though the grill surface is smaller than that of other electric s'mores makers on this list, it's the perfect choice for two people.
I did notice, however, that the accompanying forks were too small for comfort, and my hands felt too close to the heat source. As with any indoor s'mores maker, our pros advise being careful. When using it for the first time, I'll admit that I accidentally lit my marshmallow on fire three times and found the flame height intimidating at times.

GH's Kitchen & Cooking Lab experts absolutely loved how cute, lightweight, and easy to use this s'mores maker was and agreed that it's the best choice for kids. All you have to do is fill the water reservoir, prepare two s'mores, and pop them in the microwave for about 30 seconds. Each s'more featured warm chocolate and a gooey marshmallow, and I took secret pleasure in smashing the s'mores together with the maker's hands and watching each marshmallow ooze out on the sides.
The main disadvantage of this s'mores maker is that you miss out on the joy of actually roasting marshmallows, and you won't get a crisped exterior like you would from a fire. But this model felt super safe. It's also lightweight and portable, extremely easy to clean up since there are no electrical wires or cords to avoid, and dishwasher safe. Just keep in mind that you can only use it indoors.

Not only does this s'mores maker include four forks, but the grill has a large surface area and, in my tests, produced yummy marshmallows that were golden on the outside, gooey and soft on the inside. Though the marshmallows weren't exactly the crispy texture you would get with a campfire and weren't the fastest to roast, the final s'more was similar.
I also really liked that the plastic tray was lightweight and had plenty of space to set up s'mores ingredients on the sides, but because this s'mores maker is larger, it'll require some extra storage space.

There's nothing like a real campfire, but getting one going can be a lot of work. That's why I love City Bonfires so much. It lets you light a real (albeit small) "campfire" outside, as long as it's not too windy. Not only is it portable, lightweight, and extremely easy to take with you wherever you go, but you can buy the portable fire pit by itself or the S'mores Night Pack, which comes with two reusable roasting sticks and a s'mores kit so you can get started ASAP.
Another perk when using City Bonfires: No clean-up is required. Preheating isn’t required or recommended, but we do advise waiting at least five minutes after lighting the briquettes before roasting marshmallows. Even though City Bonfires ultimately produced decent s’mores, the deposit from the soy wax wasn’t appetizing and gave marshmallows a black appearance. Also, marshmallows took a few minutes longer to roast than with other s’mores makers. Nevertheless, the fun was worth the extra wait time.

How we test s'mores makers
For this test, Good Housekeeping Institute Kitchen & Cooking Lab experts evaluated a range of s’mores makers. I personally tested each device in my home kitchen and during hands-on evaluations in the Lab. All s’mores were made using the same ingredients: Jet-Puffed Marshmallows, Hershey’s Milk Chocolate, and Honey Maid Fresh Stacks Graham Crackers. Each model was assessed for ease of assembly, preheat and cook time, overall user experience, s’mores quality, and ease of cleanup.
Since marshmallows are key to a great s’more, I also paid close attention to their texture after roasting and assigned each model a marshmallow texture score on a 1-to-5 scale, with a golden, crispy exterior and a soft, gooey center earning a 5. Feedback from taste testers, which included editors and Lab experts, was also factored into our final picks.
What to look for when shopping for a s'mores maker
✔️ Style: Kitchen & Cooking Lab Director Nicole Papantoniou says that the first factor you should consider when shopping for a s'mores maker is the style. Do you prefer an indoor s'mores maker, a portable outdoor-only s'mores maker, or one that can be used both indoors and outdoors?
