Summer is the best time of year to go bargain-hunting for a home security camera, since brands are eager to take advantage of the high consumer demand that comes with peak travel season. Our market editors spotted hot deals on a trio of cameras that will help you keep tabs on your property during your next vacation—or anytime you’re away from home.

Each of the below have been tested by our Home Improvement & Outdoor Lab, and a couple even boast GH Home Reno Awards.

This outdoor security camera took home a 2026 GH Home Reno Award on the strength of its crystal-clear 4K UHD resolution, full-color night vision, and 360° auto-tracking. Our experts praised the battery-powered pan-and-tilt camera, which captured sharp video in all lighting conditions during testing thanks to its large image sensor.

Consumer testers liked the ease of setup and operation. “The pan/tilt feature is amazing,” one told us. “I have other cameras, but this one is by far superior in video quality and design.” With a 500-day battery life and solar panel charging, the Altas PT Ultra also delivers peace of mind without constant maintenance or recharging.

Here’s another top-tested outdoor camera that adds in a powerful floodlight, good for both safety and security. It also nabbed a GH Home Reno Award, in 2025, behind its excellent video quality, plus the two-way audio that lets you speak to guests, delivery persons, or even a would-be burglar, to let them know they’re being watched.

Our experts noted the camera's high-quality construction, though that makes it heavier than most at 3.45 pounds. Between its heft and the fact that it must be hardwired, you may need a professional to install it for you.

With its constant WiFi connection, the Nest Cam records 24/7. An optional $8 per month Nest Aware subscription offers facial recognition to avoid unnecessary alerts for family or friends approaching, though if you decide to skip the subscription, you’ll still have access to three hours of event video history.

Doorbell cameras can help deter package thieves and other burglars, while also allowing you to see and speak with welcome visitors. This standout from Ecobee offers a wide 175-degree vertical field of view, allowing you to clearly see packages and other objects pushed right up against the door. It’s hardwired, which makes for a trickier installation, but you won’t have to worry about replacing or recharging batteries.

Our experts like that the Ecobee is compatible with both Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit, allowing you to set it up so your smart speaker or phone will announce when someone is at the door with a chime. You can also communicate with whoever is at the door through the device’s two-way audio (including through the app on your phone if someone comes when you're away from home). One tester found the app “highly intuitive” to use while another tester praised the camera’s “expansive viewing angle” and “excellent video quality.”
