Right now, my FYP is filled with videos of squishy dumplings: Users searching Five Below aisles for the mystery squish toys and “unboxing” the faux bamboo steamer baskets. The TikTok videos are strangely addicting: Did they manage to find a “rare” glitter dumpling or will they reveal an ordinary color? It’s a trend that combines two of the internet’s latest obsessions: blind box toys and squishy fidget toys. Not to mention, the smiley dumplings are adorable (glitter insides or not).

The problem? The viral mystery squishy buns are nearly impossible to track down. They’re completely sold out online at Five Below—both the mini Series 1 that cost $1 and the larger Series 3 for $5. There’s also a super rare jumbo dumpling (I’m not sure the exact price) that’s the largest squishy I’ve ever seen.

Of course, there’s a thrill in searching your local store and opening the dumpling basket to reveal your purchase—but, you could skip the hassle. While we’re keeping on eye out for Five Below’s restock, I managed to find similar glitter dumplings on Amazon. The best part? You can choose which glittery color you want: red, yellow, clear, or blue.

These adorable food toys are fun to squeeze, stretch, pinch, and roll. What’s most interesting about the obsession of squishy toys is that they appeal to kids, teens, and adults. I love squishing my toys throughout the work day to help me focus and keep from fidgeting.

This trend has been going on for weeks and shows no sign of stopping. If you’re determined to buy the mystery boxes from Five Below, I recommend asking a store associate when they restock—they might be able to give you first dibs on the next shipment.
