As a LEGO collector with over 100 sets, I’ve had the Home Alone house on my wish list for a few holiday seasons now. Well, I’m not putting it off any longer, because it’s retiring at the end of this year. In case you didn’t know, most LEGO sets are retired after two to three years of production—yes, even the beloved ones.
GET THE ‘HOME ALONE’ HOUSE BEFORE IT RETIRES
You may still be able to find this iconic house for a few months after production ends in late 2026, but by next Christmas, you'll likely be shopping through resellers—and paying a premium. Case in point: The Hocus Pocus set was retired last year, and its resale price has nearly doubled since. Cue the Kevin McAllister screaming gif!
If you’re a Home Alone fan, this set has every detail you could possibly imagine and is aptly the most prank-filled house that LEGO has ever made. The stairway comes equipped with a swinging paint can, the shelves in the bedroom are collapsible (so the spider can escape), and there’s even a zip line to a treehouse, so Kevin can make his escape.
The set includes five LEGO minifigures, including Kevin, his mom Kate, Harry, Marv, and “Old Man” Marley. There’s even a van for the Wet Bandit duo that has police hats and a crowbar.
With 3,957 pieces, this is an ambitious build that's best suited for older LEGO fans. And once built, it’s 10.5 inches tall and 13 inches long, so you’ll need to carve out a decent amount of space to display it. You can reserve it for the holiday season, but in my opinion, it looks gorgeous year-round.
But there's more to it than its display-worthy looks. Turn it around and the roof comes off to showcase walls that open, meaning you can see and interact with the pieces inside. Each level can be separated, as well, if you want easier access to the lower levels.
Like I said, this set is an investment—but if it's on your wish list, now's the time to buy before resale prices climb even higher. If you're after the same holiday movie nostalgia without the $300 price tag, I've rounded up a few more festive LEGO sets below.
