When you have a large bust, finding the best swimsuit isn’t just about style, it’s about engineering. The right design can make a significant difference in comfort, support, and overall fit, especially when you’re looking for a suit that not only looks polished but also performs well over time. Details like underwire, molded cups, wide straps, and reinforced bands can help lift and shape the chest, while high-quality fabrics are better equipped to maintain their structure through repeated exposure to the elements.
To help narrow the field, our experts evaluated a range of swimsuits designed with these features in mind. At the Good Housekeeping Institute, our Textiles Lab tests swimsuits to ensure they hold up swim season after swim season. We stretch the swimsuits out to see if they sag or return to their original shape. We also evaluate colorfastness to determine if the dye will hold up against elements like salt water, chlorine, and the sun. Of course, they should look good, too.
Ahead, the best one-pieces and bikinis for large busts, selected for their support, comfort, and long-lasting performance.

Pros
Durable material withstands repeated laundering
Testers liked the flattering appearance
Thick, supportive straps won't dig into shoulders
Cons
Only goes up to a DDD in cup sizes
Dubbed "most flattering" by our testers, this Lands' End swimsuit looks great on and is built to last. Wide straps support the chest, and there's a soft-cup bra inside for added coverage. The wrap-style bodice and plunging neckline emphasize the waistline for a slimming effect, and the slightly compressive material smooths and shapes the stomach and hips.
The durable swimsuit held up to repeated washing in our Textiles Lab tests, showing no major changes in appearance, and it performed well in our colorfastness evaluations, so it should be able to withstand the elements like chlorine, saltwater, and the sun's UV rays. This style comes in an assortment of sizes including regular, petite, long, plus, and plus long with cup sizes available up to DDD.

Pros
Wide, adjustable straps
Fuller coverage bottoms
Ruching smooths the stomach
Cons
Thinner material isn't as durable
It's hard not to love the retro pinup vibes of this one-piece, but it's got a lot more going for it than just style. It features a classic square neckline with wide straps that adjust in the back for a little more lift and a better fit, meanwhile the material is ruched across the stomach to hide any bumps or bulges. The brand says the swimsuit is suitable for cup sizes through E for plenty of support, and it has removable padded cups if you prefer to go without padding.
From simple black to bold polka dots and colorful florals, this budget-friendly style comes in 31 different colors and prints so you'll have tons to choose from. But keep in mind, this suit's material is a bit thinner than some others on our list, so it may show signs of wear faster than other options. I'm 6-feet tall, and while it fit, it was a little snug, so I wouldn't recommend if you normally wear a long torso style. The bust support was impressive for my DD-cups, though.

Pros
Large range of sizes from 30DD to 40O
Full-coverage underwire cups
Elevated seams for an hourglass effect
Cons
Sizing is limited on Amazon
While it's easier to find bikinis with bra sizing for large busts, it can be difficult to find a one-piece swimsuit. This one comes from Panache, one of our favorite bra brands for larger cup sizes, and the swimsuit is available in sizes 30DD through 40O. (Sizing is limited on Amazon, but the brand's site offers the full range.)
It has non-padded underwire cups that offer full coverage and a natural lift. The suit also has tummy control and a chic princess seams that run down the swimsuit, creating an hourglass effect.

Pros
Adjustable straps for better fit
Built-in bra with more support
Flattering V-neck
Cons
Runs long
If you want the convenience of a two-piece swimsuit but prefer more coverage, a tankini is the way to go. This one from Lands' End is available in bra sizes up to DDD and is equipped with plenty of support for your chest, including a built-in bra with removable soft cups and underwire. It also has adjustable straps for a more custom fit.
The plunging V-neckline has a flattering criss-cross design at the bust, and the top flares slightly over the hips, so it won't cling to your stomach. It is on the longer side, though, so opt for a petite size if you're short.
Lands' End carries a wide assortment of swim bottoms, including a high-waisted option and a lower-sitting hipster bottom, so you can build your own coordinating set.

Pros
Trendy one-shoulder design
Standard and long torso options
A favorite style of women of all shapes, sizes, and ages
Cons
No padding or cups
This super popular swimsuit from Summersalt is one of our top-tested styles and is one of the brand's best sellers, loved by women of all ages, shapes, and sizes. The brand took 5 million body measurements to inform the fit of the swimsuit, which is available in sizes 0 through 24 with standard and long torso options. That way, the suit can fit tons of body shapes and sizes, including small and large busts.
One GH analyst who wears this style says the material is compressive without feeling too tight, so it smooths and shapes but doesn't feel restrictive. She said, "I've had it for years, and it still looks great. The colors are just as bright, and the swimsuit hasn't lost its shape." I have a larger bust and was impressed by the bust support, despite there not being any underwire or built-in cups.
We love the iconic color-block look, but the brand also offers the swimsuit in solids like black and olive, as well as delicate prints and patterns, and there are variations with fun details like bows.

Pros
Extensive band and cup size range up to 42G
Provides great lift like a bra
Seamed foam cups for coverage with comfort
Cons
Solid colors have a bra-like appearance
Known for its bras available in larger cup sizes, Freya is one of our top picks for women with DD+ cups. The brand's bikini tops are similar to its bras, featuring quality construction and elements like an underwire, seamed foam cups, and boning along the sides for structure and support. They're available in standard bra sizing ranging from 30D to 42G for great lift and comfortable coverage without excess padding or bulk, though the solid options do look a bit like a bra. You can pair it with the brand's bikini bottoms in matching colors and patterns.

Pros
Extensive size range up to 4X and J/K cups
Lace-up back allows for adjustability
Buit-in underwire for support
Cons
Snug fit is harder to get on
TA3 went viral on social media for its waist-cinching styles that dramatically transform the torso. The Lifty swimsuit has shaping panels and a lace-up back that can be tightened for an hourglass look (or loosened if you need more breathing room!), along with underwire cups to support and lift the chest. Because of its compressive design, it may take a bit more effort to get on than a typical swimsuit, but that structure is also what delivers its signature shaping effect. I struggled a little to get into the swimsuit, but once it was on, I really felt snatched and secure. It gave a true hourglass effect. I opted for the long torso option.
It's available in sizes XS through 4X with cup sizes A through J/K to accommodate larger chests, and it comes in short, regular/long, and extra-long torso options.

Pros
Slimming effect similar to shapewear
Durable and resists fading
Underwire provides extra support
Cons
Limited 10–18 size range
Similar to your favorite shapewear, Miraclesuit's Oceanus swimsuit is made with material that sculpts and smooths your stomach and hips. When we evaluated slimming swimsuits in the Textiles Lab, we found this ruched swimsuit slimmed more than other styles. It proved durable in our tests as well, resisting fading after being exposed to seawater, chlorine, sweat, and more. We love the look of the deep-V neckline and appreciate the built-in foam cups with underwire for some extra lift and support.
While the size range is limited, it's a great option if you wear a size between 10 and 18. This style is suitable for DD-cups, but the brand also offers a DDD-cup option and plus-size version.

Pros
Ruched stomach camouflages the midsection
Flattering on different body types
Cute mesh cutout and open keyhole
Cons
Not much coverage in the bum
Loved for its affordable and fashionable styles, Tempt Me is a popular swimsuit brand on Amazon. This high-neck style is also a favorite of GH analysts and testers. We had 10 women with different body types try this style, and all 10 of them described the swimsuit as "flattering." They loved the ruched stomach, high neckline, mesh inlay, plunging back details, and the built-in padded push-up bra that adds shape and support. However, there was not much coverage in the bum area, especially on fuller figures.
One GH analyst who has worn this style for years says it offers a great bang for your buck and is impressed by how well it has held up to regular use with only minor signs of wear. It also comes in an impressive range of 20 colors.

Pros
Supportive underwire for lift
Designed specifically for large cups and narrower frames
Thicker straps for support
Cons
No padding for modesty
Not everyone with a large chest has a large band size. Abercrombie & Fitch's Curve Love line is made just for those who have smaller band sizes and larger cup sizes (28D through 42DD). This unlined top offers fuller coverage cups and an underwire for support. I felt pretty secure in this swimsuit and wasn't worried about any nip slips. The gore (fabric between the middle of the cups) and the wire fell high on my chest, but it wasn't uncomfortable. A tug on the laces in the back helped lift my chest without needing padding or lining.
Some sizes are currently out of stock in certain colors, and Abercrombie does tend to sell out quickly, but luckily you can browse similar tops in the Curve Love line.

Pros
Straps are convertible and removable for different looks
Large range of band and cup sizes
Criss-cross back is extra supportive
Cons
Pricey for one piece when not on sale
This convertible bikini top gives you plenty of options to play around with—the straps can be worn the standard way, criss-crossed, or you can forgo them and go strapless. (Keep in mind that the wrap design on the cups remains the same; only the straps are convertible.) It's available in 6 colors and prints and a wide range of band and cup sizes, so you can find your perfect color, fit, and look.
Crossing the straps in an x-shape in the back can provide more support for larger busts, similar to the straps on some sports bras. And if you’re lounging at the beach and want to prevent odd tan lines, simply unclip the straps for bare shoulders. The twisted balconette top is constructed with side boning and foam-lined underwire cups that can help with supporting, lifting, and shaping the bust, all while remaining comfortable.
Birdsong's Sash Fold-Over Bikini Bottom has a similar wrap appearance that pairs will with this bikini top. As much as we love this bikini top and the brand's bottoms, it is a bit pricey when it's not on sale.

Pros
Adjustable neck and back ties for fit
Large triangle cups suitable for a big bust
Extensive size range
Cons
May be variations in sizing and color depending on fabrication
If you have a large bust, it can be difficult to find a classic triangle bikini top with panels that are actually big enough to cover your chest. But Monday Swimwear's Morocco Top with adjustable neck and back ties comes in V (Voluptuous), VV (Very Voluptuous), and VVV (Very Very Voluptuous) sizing to fit curvier frames. There's chic gold hardware for an elevated look, and we love this pleated style with a bit of crinkle texture. It's available in 22 colors and prints, and the pattern options are surprisingly more modern than other swimsuits for large busts. I have a DD-cup and was impressed by the amount of support the top gave. For a little more coverage, I went with a large size, but the medium fit well and showed more cleavage—not ideal for where I was wearing mine.
The brand also carries other bikini tops and one-piece swimsuits designed to fit larger busts, along with tons of coordinating bottoms. As much as we love this bikini, it's undeniably pricey for one half of a swimsuit, but it's a good investment if you're looking for a high-quality, trendy bikini top. The brand does note that there are sometimes slight variations in color and size compared to the images and product description online, but there is a 30-day return window for full-priced items.

Pros
Wire-free style is still supportive
Flattering plunging neckline
Slightly compressive fabric smooths
Cons
Lacks padding or cups
When you have a large chest, it can be difficult to find a plunging swimsuit that's supportive and won't lead to slippage. Left on Friday's Sunday Top (and the rest of its Big Boob Tops) is specifically designed for those with D through G cups, so you can wear the low-cut style worry-free. It's made with smooth, slightly compressive fabric that holds you in place and has adjustable straps for lift. There's no underwire or bulky padding, but the swimsuit is lined for a little modesty. One tester with a 34G/H-cup loved the amount of coverage this swimsuit gave but did wish there were some padding or removable cups.
Though pricey, the brand offers tons of color options including bold brights like Neon Pink and Aqua as well as sophisticated neutrals such as Cold Brew (brown) and Grey, and the brand encourages you to mix and match your bikini top with one of its bottoms, which includes high-waisted and low-rise styles. Note that certain colors have limited sizes available, so we recommend shopping this top ASAP if you have a color preference.

Pros
Designed to stay in place during movement
Specifically made for larger cup sizes
Stretchy and quick-drying fabric
Cons
Since it's not a long-line style, it may not provide enough coverage for some
Athleta's athletic wear regularly comes out on top in our tests of the best workout clothes, and its swimsuits are perfect for someone looking for a style that goes beyond lounging at the pool. Though it's not a long-line style, the top is made for D and DD cups and is designed to stay in place during water sports, according to the brand. One GH tester with DD-cups who wore an Athleta swim top said it was the perfect style to wear splashing around in the pool with her kids and liked the amount of support it offered.
It also has a hidden underwire and side darts for shaping. Plus, it's made of a material that's extra stretchy for those who love to keep active and dries quickly. Pair it with the matching full-coverage bottoms for a textured set that's totally on-trend.

How we choose the best swimsuits for large busts

At the Good Housekeeping Institute Textiles Lab, we evaluate apparel of all kinds, including swimwear, with a focus on quality, durability, and real-world performance. For this category, we also prioritize design features that offer support and structure for larger breasts.
✔️ We start by assessing each swimsuit’s fiber content, construction, and design details, including elements like underwires, molded cups, strap width, and overall support.
✔️ We test some swimsuits in the Lab to evaluate stretch recovery, ensuring the fabric can expand to fit the body without losing its shape over time. We also assess abrasion resistance to see how well materials hold up against rough surfaces, like pool edges, and evaluate colorfastness to determine how fabrics will fare when exposure to chlorine, saltwater, and UV rays. Suits are also washed repeatedly to evaluate durability.
✔️ In addition to Lab analysis, we send swimsuits to consumer testers who wear them in real-life settings. Testers provide feedback on fit, comfort, how well the suits stay in place. We also ask for notes on appearance, since style matters too.
Not every swimsuit in this guide went through every Lab test. Our picks are based on a mix of Lab-tested styles, consumer-tested favorites, analyst experience, and expert review of design features that support large busts.
What to look for when shopping for swimsuits for large busts

These design details can help support larger chests for an overall more comfortable fit.
✔️ Wide straps are ideal compared to thinner straps or string ties, because they can do more heavy lifting and help keep the material from digging into shoulders. If you opt for tie straps, consider ones that can be tied as a halter style, which can lift the chest upward. Also look for straps with adjustable sliders, which you can move to shorten or lengthen the straps for your best fit.
✔️ Built-in underwire provides structure like a bra, lifting the breasts and providing separation to prevent unwanted uni-boob. The added support to hold your breasts in place can feel more comfortable when you're active, since you'll experience less bouncing while you’re running through the waves.
✔️ Molded foam cups or a style with darts sewn into the cups for shaping are also helpful. Because swimsuits aren’t always designed with larger breasts in mind, you might experience sagging. In a swimsuit with molded cups or darts, the breast tissue conforms to the pre-determined rounded shape.
