Stassi Schroeder and her husband, Beau Clark, are no strangers to reality TV.
The longtime couple has been together for almost a decade, and fans watched the early days of their relationship unfold on Vanderpump Rules. While Stassi was let go from the show in 2020—the same year she and Beau tied the knot—the pair returned to reality TV as cast members on Vanderpump Villa, which offered a glimpse into their lives as parents to daughter Hartford (born in January 2021) and son Messer (born in September 2023).
Now, she’s inviting fans back into her life with a brand-new series.
The new show, House of Stassi, debuted on July 29 and follows Stassi as she balances motherhood, work, and her return to reality TV. Beau, a commercial casting director and stay-at-home dad to Hartford and Messer, plays a big role too.
Ahead of the premiere, I caught up with the couple over Zoom from the podcast room where they record episodes of The Good, the Bad, and the Baby. During our conversation, Beau admitted he's nervous about showing this side of himself on reality TV.
“A few years ago, I stepped back from my career to be a stay-at-home dad,” he says. “Viewers will see a lot of that actually, but there’s that part of me, too, that feels kind of embarrassed in a sense. I feel like it’s that tug of the man needing to be able to put in his financial duties and all that stuff. There’s that fraction within myself.”
Beau says Stassi has been his biggest source of encouragement.
“Stassi always backs me up with positivity,” he says. “She always says, ‘I couldn’t do this without you, and you’re such a great dad.’ Everything I do at home is so beneficial for her and the family, and that really gets me out of the bad thoughts I have about myself. Any time I doubt being Mr. Mom, she lifts me up, and that’s the counterbalance we have.”
That support came through during our conversation, too.
“I also think [Beau being a stay-at-home dad] is a really important story to tell,” she says. “We need that representation on shows. Like, there are stay-at-home dads, and that should be OK. Why does it always have to be stay-at-home mom? I just feel like that's a really interesting story for people to see.”
Stassi doesn’t think their arrangement is all that unusual either.
“There are so many other moms out there that I talk to, whether I meet them through Hartford’s school or whatever,” she emphasizes. “They are like, ‘Oh, it's like the same dynamic in our house,’ and I'm like, ‘Where have you guys been hiding?’”
