With all due respect to the minimalist beige sacks that had been taking over fashion, I’m thrilled that this summer has seen a major pivot towards maximalism. Dopamine dressing (think: bright colors and kitschy details) is basically the season’s hottest trend. There are few brands that have embodied that for as many decades as Lilly Pulitzer, and for a real dopamine hit, Lilly’s having a sale, which almost never happens.
I've donned Lilly Pulitzer during many milestone events. There's the white fit-and-flare, reminiscent of the bow-shouldered one below, that I wore to my bridal shower 14 years ago (she's a little snugger these days, but the quality is still there), the hot pink cabana-striped dress I hosted my rehearsal dinner in, and I’ve gotten tons of use out of the one-piece bathing suits. This is all to say that after over 20 years of shopping their signature cheery pieces, you can trust me when I tell you that deals are few and far between–but until July 15, so many pretty styles are over 50% off. That includes the aforementioned bathing suits and whimsical shirts, caftans, and puffed-sleeved shifts. (Kids clothing is discounted as well if you want a parent-and-me moment).
Their latest collection revisits vintage designs from their archives. Think: '60s Palm Royale meets Jackie O instead of collegiate prep (though I am eyeing this cable knit sweater now that it’s $100 off). Need a dress for an upcoming wedding, or an easy-breezy romper that’ll help ward off thigh chafing (hey, it happens). Nothing here is subtle, and that’s the whole point.
