If you're obsessed with #CleanTok like I am (or you’re an avid GH reader), you’ve probably heard about the Bissell Little Green Multi-Purpose Portable Carpet and Upholstery Cleaner. The small-but-mighty machine has become a viral spectacle for its ability to tackle tough stains on upholstery—including spilled drinks on car seats, muddy paws on carpets, and mystery stains on thrifted sofas. After years on my wishlist, I finally caved and bought one last year—and trust me, it's so worth it.
Randomly, Amazon and Bissell dropped the price down to $99.99—the best sale price we've seen all year (the last time we saw this drop was early November 2025).
And I can assure you that the buzz around the Little Green Machine is legitimate; in fact, our Cleaning Lab experts at the Good Housekeeping Institute have been recommending Bissell's Little Green Machine for decades—they tested it for the first time almost 20 years ago.
The portable cleaner uses powerful suction to help get tough stains out of carpets and upholstery. Its long hose makes it simple to clean hard-to-reach areas in your home—and thanks to its portable design, you can even use it to remove dirt from car interiors. Its 48-ounce tank means you aren't constantly having to stop what you're doing to refill the cleaning solution.
In our formal review of Bissell's Little Green Machine, our Cleaning Lab experts gave it top scores for effectiveness, ease-of-use, and for how simple it is to clean. "I've been testing cleaning appliances and products for over 40 years, and I think the Bissell Little Green Portable Carpet Cleaner is a worthwhile investment for keeping the soft surfaces in your home and car clean and stain-free," says Carolyn Forté, the executive director of the Cleaning Lab.
Thanks to its hose and electrical cord management system, it's simple to store neatly. You can even stow it inside an accessible closet or cabinet for easy reach when a stain needs removing.
With over 100,000 reviews on Amazon, tons of viral TikTok moments, and praise from our pros in the Cleaning Lab, you can't go wrong with purchasing this machine—especially while it's on sale. What's more, for every purchase of a Bissell, a donation goes toward supporting the Bissell Pet Foundation to help save homeless pets.
Plus, the mini version—the Bissell Little Green Mini—is also on sale for 11% off if you wanted something smaller. Our Cleaning Lab experts have tested it, and it recently won a Good Housekeeping 2026 Cleaning Award. It’s also an Amazon best-seller with 30,000 shoppers buying it in the past month.
