It's not often we're so drawn to a celebrity manicure, but when we spotted Taylor Swift's recent glittery nail look at the 2026 Academy Museum Gala, we knew we had to find a match to recreate it at home. The megastar wore a grey-blue Dior dress, which she paired with a 'Gold Fairy Dust' manicure. Her nails were short and shimmery – ideal for playing the guitar while adding an extra touch of understated sparkle to her look.
'I would call Taylor’s manicure "gilded champagne nails." It’s a beautiful, elevated take on metallics that feel both timeless and modern. What I love about this look is the soft, shimmering gold finish, which adds just the right amount of glamour without overpowering her overall look,' says Rebecca Isa, creative director at Zoya nails.
Swift often favours glittery manicures in natural shapes. 'It’s also worth noting that Taylor has been choosing shimmery nail colours for years, making them something of a signature for her,' says Max Estrada, celebrity nail artist and founder of eNailCouture. Vikki Swan, founder of Vikki Swan Nail Academy in Los Angeles, says that a sparkly finish is an easy way to make nails look even more eye-catching. 'Glitter is one of the quickest ways to transform a simple manicure. Whether you’re layering ultra-fine shimmer for a delicate, sophisticated finish or adding chunky glitter for something more dramatic, it instantly gives the nails dimension, movement, and a sense of occasion.'
Experts also predict that 'gold fairy dust nails' will be a bigger trend for autumn because they offer an option for people who want to try something beyond darker hues such as cherry noir or bitter chocolate. 'It proves that autumnal nails don’t always have to be dark or moody. Softer metallics like champagne and pale gold are a chic way to add warmth and dimension, and they’re especially versatile as we transition into the holiday season,' Isa says. 'This fits perfectly into what I’m predicting for autumn and winter 2026: bigger, bolder, more opulent glamour. We’re moving toward manicures that feel like accessories in their own right,' Estrada says.
Want to recreate the look at home in one easy step, without layering multiple nail polishes? We've found a seriously close match from OPI called My Private Yacht.
It's a champagne-taupe gold with rainbow holographic undertones and just enough sparkle to catch your eye every time you look down at your hands. We'd always recommend using a base coat and top coat alongside your chosen nail polish for a longer-lasting finish, but this is a very easy way to get the look yourself.
