By now, it’s safe to say that Amal Clooney’s hair is what beauty dreams are made of. And, making her return to the red carpet, she’s given her signature lengths a refresh with a ‘blurred brunette’ shade — and we think it might just be her best colour yet.
Last night, Amal, 48, joined George on the carpet at the Venice International Film Festival. It’ll come as no surprise that the pair looked phenomenal, dressed up to the nines. But, as always, we were left particularly mesmerised by Amal’s locks.
Her signature brunette curls were given extra dimension with strategic milky brunette strands woven throughout. The blend is so soft that the look was aptly named ‘blurred brown’ by her longtime hairstylist Dimitris Giannetos.
‘This technique is pretty much a balayage effect where she’s had some sun-kissed pieces added throughout her natural rich brown,’ says hairstylist and OSMO Ambassador Jude Taylor. ‘It complements her features beautifully – especially her eyes.’
Jude explains that this ‘blurred’ technique is all about adding subtle dimension. ‘It adds depth, which makes it much more expensive that a solid, all-over brunette,’ he says.
Even the most subtle, light strands like Amal’s can work wonders to lift the complexion. As Jude explains, ‘The lighter pieces around the face creates an illusion that makes her face seem more glowy and brighter without having to do any heavy makeup – it’s a clever trick to enhance your facial features with very little effort.’
Safe to say, if one salon appointment can cut down our morning routines, we’re influenced. Of course, an inspo photo is always handy to take to the salon (thanks, Amal!) — but what exactly should you ask your colourist for?
‘In the salon, I recommend asking for a subtle balayage. If you’re a natural brunette, you’ll want to keep your natural hair dark and just add in those flecks of the light caramel tone throughout. It looks expensive without looking overdone,’ says Jude.
Colour is only part of the equation. What makes Amal’s hair look so consistently beautiful is the condition. That light-reflecting shine is truly the source of all of our hair envy. Here, Jude recommends upgrading your shower routine with a salon-quality shampoo and conditioner.
He says the OSMO Deep Moisture Shampoo is particularly brilliant for boosting that glossy shine, while the OSMO Colour Revive Toffee Conditioner works hard to keep the colour fresh between salon appointments.
If we can get our hair looking anything close to Amal’s, we’ll be very happy indeed.
