Last week, Pamela Anderson made a glamorous return to the red carpet and since then, her hair has undergone more transformations than we can count. From undone beachy waves to sculpted vintage curls, she’s proved just how versatile a bob can be — but we think her latest rendition might just be the most flattering yet.
The Baywatch icon, 59, was spotted in New York over the weekend for Fashion Week and it seems she packed her beauty A-game for the trip. Her latest look featured a black, tailored ensemble paired with oversized sunnies, but it was her hair that caught the attention of the GH beauty desk.
Her blonde bob appears to have been curled before being brushed out, creating soft, face-framing curves. ‘It’s a beautiful example of how much difference texture can make to a shorter cut,’ says Jason Collier, celebrity hairstylist and key opinion leader at Jerome Russell Bblonde.
He explains, ‘The soft, brushed-out curls give the bob plenty of movement and volume, while still feeling effortless and touchable. Rather than sitting in a very defined shape, the hair has this lovely, undone softness.’
Because it instantly adds volume at both the roots and through the lengths, Jason notes that it’s a brilliant style for giving finer hair a fuller-looking finish. But the benefits don’t stop there.
‘The real beauty of this finish is that it creates softness around the face,’ Jason says. ‘Very straight or heavily structured bobs can sometimes look quite severe, whereas brushed-out movement creates a softer frame around the cheeks, jawline and neck.’
Take a closer look at Pammy’s look and you’ll see the effects in action. ‘Pamela’s face-framing layers and side-swept movement are doing a lot of work here, too. The hair isn’t sitting rigidly against the face; it moves around it, which creates a really fresh and youthful feel,’ he adds.
While a talented glam squad will be behind Pamela’s locks, Jason reassures us that it’s a surprisingly easy look to copy. ‘You don’t need perfect curls; you want that soft, brushed-out movement, and the key is not to overwork it,’ he says.
‘To build that volume, start by applying a volume elixir to damp hair, then blow-dry using a round brush to create lift and a soft bend through the ends,’ he explains.
‘Once dry, use a medium-to-large barrel curling tong or wand, curling sections away from the face and alternating the direction slightly for a more natural finish. Let the curls cool completely before gently brushing them through with a soft-bristle brush or your fingers. Finish with a misting of a lightweight hairspray and hair oil.’
Thanks to its relaxed finish, it’s a style that looks just as good on Pamela at Fashion Week as it would in day-to-day life.
