Trinny Woodall is the queen of midlife skin confidence, so when she announces she’s created a real-life miracle for menopausal skin and beyond, the GH team is all ears. Miracle Blur Diffuser is the new baby sister to Trinny London’s iconic Miracle Blur, and Trinny says this ‘soft-focus filter in a tube’ is exactly what her own skin has been crying out for at 62.

The clear gel-balm is designed to be smoothed over areas where you’re seeing uneven texture, fine lines and pores enlarged by age and gravity – a midlife issue she likens to ‘orange peel’ on the face. ‘You just [apply] where you feel you might have this kind of skin,’ Trinny says in an Instagram demo. ‘It’s how I feel about my skin some days.’

Trinny says Miracle Blur Diffuser smooths over uneven skin texture caused by ageing

‘Ladies who are going into menopause or post-menopause will know about that separation of the skin,’ she adds, before showing off the instant airbrush effect on her own face. ‘It glides over fine lines to create a soft-focus, diffused finish all over the skin. It softens texture in seconds, like when the lighting hits just right and your skin looks amazing.’

Unlike the original Miracle Blur, which has a soft-pink tone, the new product is totally transparent, which Trinny promises will make every skin tone look ‘incredible’. It’s also formulated with hyaluronic acid with the claim of all-day hydration alongside instant skin smoothing.

All very enticing but does it deliver? Here’s the GH verdict.

Testing Trinny London Miracle Blur Diffuser

Beauty director Lynne says: ‘I’m partial to the original Miracle Blur, especially when my Botox is due a top-up and I’d like those frown lines smoothing out. Trinny says this new product is more of a ‘soft-focus skin finish’ as opposed to Miracle Blur’s ‘heavy-lifting formula for deeper lines and wrinkles’, but I think Diffuser has a pretty similar light-bending, line-blurring, ‘pore-filling’ effect. Which isn’t a complaint in my book. At all.

I didn’t look 20 years younger (that would be a miracle too far), but my very-much menopausal skin did get that promised smoothing boost, from crows feet to nasolabial creases.

At first glance, the tube looks like a lip balm rather than an all-over face filter, but perhaps that’s because it’s a good bet on lined lips. That packaging also gives the impression of a small amount of product, but I’d hazard a guess that the 9ml tube is pretty comparable to the 4g pot of Miracle Blur, which is the same price at £28. Plus, a little goes a long way.

I like the easily-dispersed silky gel/balm texture and the way it can be used either all over a bare face or gently patted on over makeup without disturbing it. That’s handy for airbrushing undereye crinkles without dislodging concealer, for instance. The original Blur works seamlessly on my pale complexion, but it’s not universal, so having a clear texture that works on all skin tones is a big bonus for Miracle Blur Diffuser.

Personally, I’d use this interchangeably with the original Miracle Blur, but the tube format does make this feel more portable. Permanent residence in the bottom of my handbag seems assured.
