If your skincare routine stops at your chin, you’re not alone. We devote so much time and effort to layering serums and moisturisers on our face, yet the neck often goes overlooked. My mum, 60, admits she’s been guilty of it — her complexion still glows, but she says her neck is the one area where she's struggled to turn back the clock. That is, until a £12 mask changed everything.
‘I would say I have a bit of a turkey neck,’ she tells me. After years of neglect, she now moisturises the area regularly, but hasn’t seen the time-reversing results she’s hoping for. So when Prai’s latest launch, Ageless Throat & Decolletage Hydrogel Mask, landed on my desk, I knew I had the perfect guinea pig.
The sheet mask’s star ingredient is something called Sepilift DPHP, a clinically proven ingredient Prai says helps ‘visibly firm, lift and restore elasticity for a more youthful-looking complexion’. It came as no surprise to me to discover the mask is made in Korea, where this type of beauty innovation soars.
Though sceptical of any results, it’s safe to say my mum’s interest was piqued. ‘I love face masks, but I’ve never even seen a neck one before,’ she told me.
Being a sheet mask, application couldn’t be easier. All there is to do is simply remove the mask from the packet and peel away the protective layers before applying to clean, dry skin. Though it’s worth noting this isn’t your typical cotton sheet mask. Instead it’s a hydrogel mask, with an almost jelly-like texture that moulds comfortably to the skin and, as my mum notes, has a lovely cooling effect on contact. That said, it is delicate, so take care not to tear it.
The mask takes just 15 minutes to work its magic. ‘I noticed the serum was quickly absorbed into the skin,’ she tells me. Once removed, Prai recommends massaging any remaining serum into the skin and leaving it to absorb.
The results were a total shock to my mum. ‘I was shaken to the core when I saw the results. I was staring at the mirror in disbelief,’ she told me. ‘My neck and décolletage looked much smoother, and the lines and crepiness had disappeared. It’s like a miracle’
When her before-and-after photos came through, I was just as stunned, staring in disbelief at the transformation. The results were so impressive, the skin looked completely smoothed, almost as if she’d had a neck lift. She tells me that after seeing the difference, my dad even tried to pinch a mask for himself!
The results lasted well into the next morning, with an extra snap landing in my Whatsapp inbox captioned ‘Still going strong!’ ‘It took 10 years off my neck,’ she tells me.
The mask is available as a single sheet for £12, or a box of three for £30. ‘I’ll be saving the rest of my box for nights out, especially for occasions that call for an off-the-shoulder dress,’ she tells me. Though she couldn’t resist adding a few more to her basket — and I can see why.
