This salad makes a beautiful centrepiece.

Arranging your festive salad into a wreath shape instantly makes it a showstopper! And, it's so easy to do. Blue cheese, pears and pomegranate seeds get tossed in a zingy dressing and makes for the perfect Christmas starter to side dish to your main meal.
Heat a large dry frying pan, then add walnut pieces. Toast for 3-5min, shaking pan often, or until the walnuts smell toasted. Tip into a bowl and set aside to cool.
In a small serving bowl, whisk the dressing ingredients with some salt and freshly ground black pepper. Set aside.
On a large board or platter, arrange salad leaves in a round wreath shape. Dot over pear slices and blue cheese. Scatter over the pomegranate seeds and toasted, cooled walnuts.
Place bowl of dressing in middle of wreath and serve with sliced baguette, if you like.
GET AHEAD:
Make dressing up to a day ahead. Store in a jar in fridge. To serve, complete recipe (don’t slice pears too early or they’ll go brown).
GH TIP:
Make sure to always toast your nuts, as it brings out their flavour.
