This fruity condiment is the perfect ingredient in a spicy marg - here’s how to make it
Ditch the cocktail shaker for a near-empty jar

Jam jar cocktails are our favourite boozy hack, but what if we told you shaking up a cocktail with mango chutney works just as well? The spices are a perfect match for bright, citrussy tequila. Once you shake it up with Cointreau, lime juice, garam masala and ice, you have a single-serve party in your hands!
Ingredients
- A near-empty jar of mango chutney
- Ice cubes
- 50 ml tequila
- 30 ml lime juice
- 25 ml triple sec (we used Cointreau)
- A pinch garam masala, plus extra to garnish
Directions
- Step 1In a near-empty jar of mango chutney (you should have about 1-2tbsp of chutney), add a handful of ice, the tequila, lime juice, triple sec and a pinch of garam masala. Shake until the jar feels well chilled. Add more ice, a pinch more garam masala for garnish, then serve.
GH TIPS:
Use a smoother, less chunky chutney for a sip that doesn’t need sieving.
Chill the tequila beforehand so the cocktail stays colder for longer without over-diluting.
No triple sec? No worries! Replace with a similar amount of tequila and add a squeeze of agave nectar or honey. Make sure you give the jar a good shake to help dilute the sweetener.
If you’re a tequila fan, these are the best to buy right now.
