Want to know how Cindy Crawford stays in such great shape at 60? As well as regular gym sessions and Pilates, the supermodel relies on a healthy diet and intermittent fasting, delaying breakfast until after working out. 'If I’m at home I’ll do a little bit of intermittent fasting. I don’t usually have breakfast before 10am and I usually workout before breakfast.'
Speaking on The Bossticks podcast, she gave a rundown of her daily diet dos and don'ts, telling presenters Lauryn and Michael Bosstick that she begins the day with a shake for breakfast, and revealing the exact ingredients that keep her energised and nourished until lunch.
'I make my own shake,' she said. 'It does change, but currently it has coconut milk, a quarter of a banana, because I was told otherwise it’s too much sugar, a handful of spinach and mint and then I put in collagen protein powder, cacao, flax and hemp seeds on the top.' She revealed her shake also contains maca root - a powdered supplement that contains fibre, protein, carbs, and amino acids, as well as vitamins and minerals.
Cindy also shared that she eats 'pretty much everything' but she does avoid gluten, revealing that it doesn't make her 'feel good'. 'I don’t eat a lot of bread but for lunch, I'll have salad with protein.'
The supermodel repeats this winning formula at dinner time, opting for 'protein and veggies.' She previously revealed that she prioritises whole foods over packaged or processed, she does make sure she has some treats. 'I drink alcohol, or tequila on the the rocks. I avoid mixed drinks, like margaritas, because I always feel better without the sugar,' Cindy told Allure. 'If my daughter wants to make brownies once in a while, I can have one with her.' Now that's something we can relate to!
