We all know the struggle of squeezing shoes, summer clothes and swimming costumes into a small suitcase - and cramming a week's worth of toiletries into a sponge bag that's bursting at the seams. But if you're a wellness guru, how do you streamline your holiday packing to leave space for workout clothes and an array of supplements to support your health while you're away? Which make the cut - and which do you leave at home?
Happily, best-selling author and wellbeing expert Liz Earle has come to the rescue, documenting exactly what she's packing for a week in Turkey for a post-GCSE holiday with teens. Along with sarongs, poolside cover-ups, light dresses, cotton trousers and white T shirts, her capsule wardrobe also includes something a little bit different - a pair of grounding trainers and grounding socks, which she told her followers she will wear in the airport.
Grounding footwear combines a minimalist design with conductive elements, which devotees say allows them to remain connected to the earth while wearing shoes. Liz is a long-term fan; research suggests that it may offer anti-inflammatory benefits as well as improvements to mood, sleep and immunity.
Next, Liz lets her followers in on her sponge bag secrets... revealing that she opts for sachets and little bags of supplements to keep things simple when travelling.
'This is my nighttime bag,' she says. 'It comes with me everywhere - you know me and my nighttime rituals! In here I’ve got everything - HRT, sleep mask, alarm clock, blue [light] blockers, lavender oil, ear plugs.
'I put my supplements into little individual bags and I’ve obviously got sachets of supplements,' she adds, listing electrolytes, creatine and the powerful anti-oxidant glutathione: 'It's very good if you intend to have a glass or two of rose in the evening!' Cheers to that.
