It's time to ditch your spare blender

If you've found that your cabinets and cupboards are overflowing, it might be time to declutter. A good place to start is getting rid of those items you have multiple versions of. Professional organisers say most people don't need duplicates of things like kitchen gadgets or cleaning appliances.
"We often buy duplicates because we don’t know what we already have, we can’t find an item when we need it, and quite frankly, it often feels easier to buy something new than to search our homes for it," says Sara Bereika, a professional organiser and owner of Sara Jane Organizing.
Additionally, Michelle Urban of The Organized House says many people hang on to duplicates for a "just in case" moment: "Just in case someone comes over, just in case one breaks, just in case life gets busy or uncomfortable," Urban says.
She also notes that people often hang onto duplicate items because they have a sentimental attachment to them or feel guilty about getting rid of things that were gifts (or pricey buys). "Those feelings are real, and they come up all the time when I am working with a client," Urban says.
