We'll admit, we often find ourselves looking at our phones for a disproportionate amount of time each day, replying to texts, checking Facebook, scrolling through emails – but when it comes to dinnertime, most of us like a mobile-free table.

However, it can be hard trying to get some members of the family to part ways with their mobile, even for a 30-minute interval, which is why IKEA’s new SITTNING collection could come in handy at the dinner table.

The stunning new 40-piece, limited edition collection comes complete with a placemat featuring a built-in pocket designed to house your mobile phone during dinner times. The unique design means that while the phone is neatly hidden away, it can also be accessed should something really important arise (such as a friend’s WhatsApp message that needs an instant reply). OK, so it’s not exactly solving the problem of ‘no phones at the table’, but it’s a compromise at least. Oh, and it looks very chic!
