Someone on the London Underground is handing out disturbing cards that body-shame their female receivers.

A number of people have witnessed a man handing out the cards, which contain despicable insults and rude comments, in various areas – including London’s busy Oxford Circus. The cards come from a group calling themselves ‘Overweight Haters Ltd’ that claims to ‘hate and resent fat people’.

Kara Florish, who works for the NHS, was casually handed one of these vile notes during her commute on Saturday.

The note read:

‘It’s really not glandular, it’s your gluttony...
Our organisation hates and resents fat people. We object to the enormous amount of food resources you consume while half the world starves. We disapprove of your wasting NHS money to treat your selfish greed. And we do not understand why you fail to grasp that by eating less you will be better off, slimmer, happy and find a partner who is not a perverted chubby-lover, or even find a partner at all.
We also object that the beatiful [sic.] pig is used as an insult. You are not a pig. You are a fat, ugly human.’

Florish said, ‘I am not upset myself, I am smaller than the national average and not exactly obese, but this is hateful and cowardly and could potentially upset people struggling with confidence and eating disorders.’

This is not the only report of such cards being handed out. Another commuter, Sean Thomas Knox, also Tweeted about seeing a ‘young man’ handing out similar, fat-shaming cards yesterday. He even observed one receiver bursting into tears as she read the offensive words.

Police have launched an investigation into the distribution of these abusive cards and are urging people affected to report it.
