Debbie McGee was a fan favourite with her elegant Viennese Waltz on Strictly Come Dancing last year, and now the former ballet dancer has revealed some exciting news involving the show and her magician nephew James Phelan.

Sharing the announcement on Twitter, Debbie posted that James will be working with Strictly dance professionals Neil and Katya Jones on a new TV show.

"Morning all. Strictly's @Mrs_katjones @Mr_NJones are recording with my Nephew in his first TV show filmed at Leatherhead Theatre Surrey Tuesday there are still some tickets left. Lots of chat and magic," the star wrote.

James had previously tweeted about the show called Celebrity Troublemaking, writing: "Can't wait for the first pilot of Celebrity Troublemaking with @Mr_NJones and @Mrs_katjones this time next week! Come if you fancy it."

A very proud Debbie had responded: "I can't wait either. So proud of you my lovely Nephew @phelanmagician You will be AMAZING Love Auntie Dxxx".

James had auditioned on Britain's Got Talent in 2016, but his performance failed to make the cut, despite making it through. Judge Amanda Holden had been wowed by his magic act, and described it as "extraordinary".

Speaking about how his uncle, the late Paul Daniels, had inspired him to take up magic, he told the Radio Times: "I don’t think I’d be doing this without them.

"They've closed the Royal Variety, they’ve played it a few times and that plays a big part in me being here. There’s no other sort of inspiration I’ve taken. I’ve never really watched any other magicians."

Meanwhile, Debbie made it into the final on Strictly last year with partner Giovanni Pernice, and said she was proud to represent older women.

"I couldn't not be conscious of it [flying the flag for older women] because from week one I've received so many messages, and I've realised no matter what's going on in your life, you can carry on.

"And it doesn't matter what age you are, you just have to go for it."
