Most of us wear foundation every single day, and you want to put your best face forward, so finding the right formulation for your skin is a bit like discovering the holy grail. Key is matching the formula to your skin type, especially as your skin matures. It’s easy for a heavy, matte-finish foundations to sink into – and accentuate – lines, and just look plain cakey.
However, we may have just found a formulation that does the opposite (or, should I say, my mum has). Here’s everything you need to know about Lancôme's Teint Miracle Foundation and why my mum has ditched her regular foundation for it.
Lancôme Teint Miracle Foundation at a glance
Pros:
- Ultra lightweight
- Features pearlescent pigments for a naturally radiant and dewy finish
- Gives skin a smooth finish
- Offers buildable coverage
Cons:
- More expensive than other foundations
What makes Lancôme Teint Miracle Foundation different?
This foundation was released over 20 years ago, with Julia Roberts as its face. Since then, though, it’s been through a series of reformulations, and it now delivers a dose of extra hydration, which the brand says can keep skin moisturised for over 18-hours – key to those extra-long days.
Another feature that sets it apart is that it’s formulated with pearlescent pigments – fear not, it won’t leave you with a reflective, ‘sweaty’ glare, but instead gives you a radiant, glowing finish.
As the GHI’s lifestyle writer, working across beauty and wellness, I’m constantly asked about what foundation is best, especially for mature skin types. And I’m always on the hunt for product recommendations. On a recent visit home, I noticed my 60-year-old mum’s newly glowing skin and was surprised to learn she’d ditched her usual drug store go-to in favour of luxury French brand, Lancôme. Here’s why she decided to make the change after decades of using the same foundation every day.
What my mum, Jacqui Evans, likes about Lancôme Teint Miracle Foundation
The lightweight, ‘dewy’ finish
‘I’d always assumed because I’d found the right shade of foundation then that was job done! So, I continued with the same one for years. I accepted that my age was probably the reason why my skin looked drier and porous and my foundation seemed to accentuate that.
‘However, one day I was passing the Lancôme counter, and the assistant persuaded me to try the Teint Miracle. She used the word ‘dewy’ to describe the finish, which is something that I wouldn’t usually go for, as I associated it with shiny, something more for the younger generation. How wrong I was! The glowy finish left me looking looked fresh and radiant. The texture was pleasant too – it easily glided onto my face, without the need for blending or rubbing in.’
The natural, yet buildable, coverage
‘At my age, I’m not expecting to have the skin of a 20-year-old, and I know a foundation won’t perform miracles. But this one, to an extent, does live up to its name. Rather than thick, high-level coverage – something I always aimed for to cover up any blemishes or marks – this one offers an almost second-skin-like feel instead. It sits on my skin, rather than sinking in, giving a slightly blurring effect. It evens out and enhances my natural complexion, but you can build up coverage with additional applications.’
The final verdict
‘I never start a new product without finishing my current one, but the results of this foundation made me immediately cut ties with myprevious foundation that I’d been loyal to for years. It doesn’t sink into my pores and fine lines, as my other matte-finish one did. Instead, it leaves my face looking smoother and fresher, with a subtle glow to it.
‘The only real slight drawback is the price, as it’s slightly more expensive than what I would usually spend. But for something that I know I will be wearing every day, and that makes me feel good, I think it’s worth every penny.’
Well, if it’s Jacqui-approved, I’m in. Mum always knows best.
