Until 23:59 on 6th October, Amazon Prime members can get 20% off the SURI 2.0 – our best ever electric toothbrush – at £83.99 down from £105, including the UV charging case, in the Morning Waves or Canyon Sunrise colourways. The deal applies to nearly all colourways without the case!
My verdict: With an outstanding clean, slim design and month-longbattery life, the SURI 2.0 electric toothbrush solves all the gripes I've previously had with electric toothbrushes. While it is on the expensive side, it’s in line with the market, plus the repair-or-replace warranty makes it well worth the investment.
In my experience, electric toothbrushes are very good at cleaning your teeth – but can be quite bad at everything else. Bulky handles, loud motors, overcomplicated features and frustratingly short-lived batteries can make them feel like far more hassle than a twice-daily brush really warrants.
So, when the SURI 2.0 was crowned joint winner in the Good Housekeeping Institute’s best electric toothbrush tests, it caught my attention. Slim, quiet and straightforward, it promises to tackle those frustrations while delivering an excellent clean – and after several weeks of use, I'm a convert.
1-year update: I’ve had the SURI 2.0 for a year now and I’m still a huge fan. I don't go anywhere without it and it’s still a pleasure to use twice a day. SURI customer support was also excellent when I had to claim on my warranty – more details below.
Here’s my full SURI electric toothbrush review, including how it performs day-in-day-out and whether it’s worth the investment.
What is the SURI 2.0 electric toothbrush?
SURI (short for Sustainable Rituals) is a UK-based brand focused on making everyday habits more eco-friendly without compromising performance. Its electric toothbrushes are sonic rather than rotating, with a compact aluminium body designed to be repairable, not disposable – and yes, the brand will actually repair your brush if it breaks.
The SURI 2.0 is the brand’s new model, featuring a new pressure sensor, wireless charging, and an improved travel case. Its replacement brush heads (currently £8.98 for two heads on a six-monthly subscription) are made from plant-based materials and can be returned to SURI for free recycling.
A particular fan-favourite feature is the magnetic mirror mount. Instead of sitting in a puddle of water and forming a depressing crust of dried toothpaste on your sink, the brush lives on the wall– cleaner, drier and far more pleasant to look at.
But what is it actually like to use? Read on for my full SURI toothbrush review, which covers performance, battery, travel, sustainability and price.
My SURI 2.0 toothbrush review
Use and performance
I love how simple this brush is to operate: press to turn on and then press again immediately to cycle between two modes: regular or polish (a more intense vibration). Every 30 seconds, the brush will buzz to prompt you to move onto to the next quadrant of your mouth. After two minutes, it will turn itself off. Easy.
Compared to my partner’s rotating electric toothbrush, it’s also impressively quiet, producing little more than a hum. I like that it has a pressure sensor too, though I felt like I had to press hard to activate it. To really protect your gums and enamel from over-brushing, I think it could be a bit more sensitive.
Most importantly, though, the clean is excellent. The SURI 2.0 leaves my teeth feeling noticeably smoother and more polished than both a manual brush and a rotating electric brush – the kind of finish I used to associate with a hygienist appointment. Even my dentist commented on the difference (yes, really).
Note, some of my colleagues who have tried the SURI toothbrush found the brush quite soft, so it may not suit everyone. For the record, I’m a fan – and most dentists actually recommend avoiding medium or hard toothbrushes. Helpfully, there’s a 100-day money-back guarantee if you’re not convinced.
Battery life
Battery life is one of the SURI 2.0’s biggest strengths. A full charge lasts well over 30 days with twice-daily brushing, meaning it’s something you genuinely don’t have to think about. By contrast, my partner has to charge his electric toothbrush every week or two.
Travel
The slim design makes the SURI 2.0 nice and portable, and it comes with a travel cap for packing light. There’s also a travel lock to stop the brush switching on in your bag – just hold down the button for five seconds when the brush is turned off.
For longer trips, the travel case comes in very handy: it contains its own battery to charge the brush, and a UV light that disinfects the head in just one minute.
Sustainability and repair
SURI’s biggest differentiator is its approach to sustainability. The aluminium body is designed to be repairable, so if something goes wrong with your toothbrush, SURI will send out a refurbished replacement handle (free within warranty, then £25). A free postage label allows you to return the old one to be refurbished.
Replacement brush heads are made from plant-based cornstarch and castor oil. Old ones can be returned to SURI via a freepost envelope for recycling, reducing the billions of plastic toothbrush heads thrown into landfill each year. It’s a responsible approach to tech that turns every waste stream into a closed-loop cycle.
1 year later: am I still using it?
A year after switching to the SURI, I’m still very much enjoying using it twice a day. The battery life hasn’t diminished, the handle is still free from toothpaste crust and it looks as lovely up on the mirror mount as the day I got it. When I’m going away, I tend to use the brush cap and travel lock instead of the case, but either way, I refuse to travel without it.
The heads last a long time without the bristles flattening – I’ve got a reminder to change them every three months, or I’d forget – and I haven’t noticed any deterioration in cleaning performance. I still think the pressure sensor should be more sensitive, but the design encourages you not to press down anyway.
A couple of months after I got it, my brush started acting up (the light wouldn’t turn off and the battery life plummeted), so I got in touch with SURI support, who sent me a free replacement, plus a freepost label to send back the old one, right away. Five stars for customer service. It’s great to know that this company stands by its warranty, while taking responsibility for its waste streams, too.
Price
The SURI 2.0 is available from trysuri.com for £105 with the travel case, or £85 for the brush only. While it’s not the cheapest electric toothbrush on the market, we’ve tested ones north of £200 that haven’t come close in performance.
When you factor in SURI’s repair service, I think this is a great price for a toothbrush you could essentially have for the rest of your life. Plus, there’s that 100-day money-back guarantee if you don’t get on with it.
If you like SURI’s approach but want a more affordable option, the newer SURI Core 1.0 costs £65 and retains many of the essential features. The Pro 2.0 is the better choice if you want a travel case, aluminium body and slightly more battery life. Read my full SURI Core 1.0 review to compare the two.
Verdict: is SURI 2.0 a good toothbrush?
The SURI 2.0 takes all my gripes with electric toothbrushes and solves them in a very elegant, stylish package. It’s slim, looks great, has a super-long battery life and provides a brilliant clean. Even better, there’s no plastic waste – and if it ever breaks, I trust the company will have my back.
The Good Housekeeping Institute verdict
Score: 97/100
The SURI 2.0 earned a near-perfect score in both our panel and lab tests, thanks to its impressive cleaning performance and clever design. “The vibrations were nice and pain-free while still being vigorous enough to polish my teeth,” said one tester. Another enthused that the “deep-clean mode left my mouth feeling tingling clean.” The long battery life and easy wireless charging were highlighted as great bonuses, too. The only niggle was the pressure sensor being tricky to activate and the softer brush wasn’t a hit for everyone.
But, overall, this is one thoughtfully designed electric toothbrush that fixes a lot of our frustrations.
The Suri 2.0 is available to buy from trysuri.com or Amazon, for £105 for the brush and travel case and £85 for the brush only.
SURI toothbrush FAQs
What is the difference between SURI 1.0 and 2.0 toothbrush?
I used the original SURI 1.0 for over three years, and visually, the two brushes are almost identical. The key upgrade with the SURI 2.0 is what you don’t immediately see: the addition of a pressure sensor and a far more reliable wireless charging system.
The new system eliminates the metal charging contacts found on the 1.0 and its charger, which tended to be temperamental. Portability has also been improved, with a redesigned travel case that can charge and disinfect the brush on the go, plus a travel lock and brush cap for lighter packing.
Who is the SURI 2.0 for?
The SURI 2.0 is for anyone who wants the great clean a high-performance sonic electric toothbrush can offer, without the overcomplicated features or plastic waste associated with other brands. While it will definitely appeal to the eco-conscious, it really is a great product for anyone.
It’s also perfect for electric toothbrush newbies. Because the gentle circular scrubbing action you use for the SURI is similar to using a manual toothbrush, it’s very easy to make the switch. Other types of electric toothbrushes require a bit of a learning curve – for example, other sonic toothbrushes need to be slowly moved around your mouth without scrubbing, while rotating electric toothbrushes with small heads must be moved carefully from tooth to tooth.
Is the SURI better than a rotating toothbrush?
The SURI is a sonic toothbrush, which uses high-frequency vibrations to clean your teeth and along the gumline. Compared to rotating or oscillating electric toothbrushes, sonic models are typically quieter, gentler on sensitive gums and offer longer battery life.
Their larger brush heads also make them easier to use, as the technique feels closer to manual brushing. Both sonic and rotating toothbrushes are recommended by dentists, and it really comes down to personal preference.
Is SURI approved by dentists?
Yes. SURI toothbrushes are dentist-approved and designed in collaboration with oral health professionals, using soft bristles suitable for daily use.
Do you use toothpaste with a Suri toothbrush?
Yes – the SURI 2.0 is designed to be used with your regular toothpaste.
Can you take a SURI toothbrush on a plane?
Yes. The SURI 2.0 and its travel case are safe to take in hand luggage, and the long battery life means you won’t need to pack a charger for shorter trips.
