The 40th anniversary of American Girl has brought fans a treasure trove of new items, from plush American Girl dolls for toddlers to an American Girl coffee table book for adult fans.
This week, there's a new fashion collab we didn't see coming: Beautiful cameo locket necklaces, bracelets, and bangles, made by popular fashion jewelers Alex and Ani. And, they honor four original, historical American Girls.

Each of the signature pendant lockets, on the necklaces and the bracelets, features one of the brand’s icons: Samantha Parkington, Molly McIntire, Addy Walker, or Kristen Larson. There's the girl's silhouette on the front, her name on the back, and inside the locket, a word that embodies her character. There's the word "kind" for Samantha, "resilient" for Addy, "lovable" for Molly, and "brave" for Kirsten.
The lockets come as four necklaces, and then there are eight new bracelets—two each per each American Girl character. Each girl gets a bolo style bracelet with beads, which has a slider to adjust the fit, and a tension bangle, which is a fixed size. Every piece is available in silver or gold finish.
Finally, there is an American Girl hinge bangle in the brand's signature colors to celebrate the brand's 40th anniversary.
Who is the jewelry for?
The pieces make great gifts for any fan old enough to wear jewelry. The brand doesn't specify an age range, but I'd say the necklaces especially could start as young as age 5 and go up through adults. The bracelets, because of their size, are probably better for tweens, teens, and adult American Girl fans full of nostalgia for these characters.
