When we asked around during the holidays for the most wished-for items on everyone's lists, there was one name we heard again and again: Jellycat.
No matter the age—kid or adult—everyone wanted to get their hands on the soft, smiling characters. Jellycat has been known to release loveables in so many different forms, from sweet little animals perfect for babies to out-of-the-box ideas like a sprig of asparagus. Most recently, the brand announced an extra-stellar line: outer space!
The theme shows up in a few different forms, starting with a pattern on one of its classic items: a stuffed bunny.
The Zodihop Luxe Bunny has cool, cosmic fur that would look amazing on a shelf or sitting up on a bed. (It also comes as a bag charm.) If you get it from the Jellycat website, you can also personalize it—a perfect gift for any space-obsessed kid.
But for those who are looking for something a bit more out-of-this-world, there are new Jellycat Amuseables that are inspired by celestial bodies and beings: Mars, a comet, a black hole, and more. (There's also a little-green-man-style alien on the site.)
The Amuseables Planet Mars and Zumblebi Alien are significant to me, because they're the first Jellycat characters I can remember that are actually frowning. It reminds me of how, due to a manufacturing error early last month, a horse plush designed for Lunar New Year was made to have a sad face instead of a happy one—and the mistake actually made it more popular.
And then there are some characters that are space-adjacent that are still dressed up in some amazing galactic gear (plus a full-on flying saucer for $75). And who wouldn't love a puppy with a jet pack or a peanut dressed like a space cowboy?
The peanut, especially, was a hit around the office. "As someone who loves country music and outer space, the new space-rodeo peanut immediately caught my attention," says Amanda Fama, Good Housekeeping's senior editor for deals and trends. "I'm obsessed with his starry cowboy hat and silver boots!"
The new Jellycat collection is currently on sale through the Jellycat website and other major retailers—but if past releases are any indication, they'll be gone faster than a speeding comet, so act quickly!
