As a shopping editor and mom of a returning college sophomore, I know exactly what to buy and what to skip when it comes to dorm room essentials. Luckily, Amazon Prime Day is back for four days (today through June 26), just in time to save on everything your college student will need come fall.
All Amazon Deals on Dorm Room Essentials
Dorm shopping lists can feel overwhelming, and in my experience it’s easy to buy a lot thinking your student will use it eventually. My advice? Stick to the essentials for now—their cramped quarters will thank you. GH’s one-stop Amazon storefront (and a handy Prime membership) make it easier to knock things off your checklist now and send them what they’ll need later.

Prime Day Dorm bedding and sleep deals
Several Good Housekeeping Bedding Award winners are on sale ahead of Prime Day. You’ll need a set (or two) of twin XL sheets, so get the ones that our Textiles Lab experts say are “more durable than traditional cotton” while they’re 40% off. Likewise, the $13 Bedsure throw blanket impressed our testers, who called it “extremely soft and comfortable.” Round out your checklist with a thick topper for their standard-issue dorm mattress, a cozy robe that’s 40% off, and a light-blocking silk sleep mask so your college student can get some well-deserved rest.
Prime Day dorm storage and decor deals
Clever storage solutions are the key to making a small dorm room work for everyone. Get a set of six under-bed storage boxes for $17 to help tame the clutter. Decorating is a top priority too, so I tracked down a space-saving over-the-door mirror and a $10 washable area rug for cozying up their spot. Of course, no dorm room is complete without a set of Command strips (now 61% off) for hanging artwork without damaging the walls.
Prime Day dorm tech and appliance deals
They’ve got their laptop and phone, but a pair of Beats noise-cancelling headphones (now 50% off) and a portable mag charger will come in handy for late night study sessions. Hook them up with a compact Keurig for just $49, a BlueAir air purifier at 60% off that also serves as a sunrise alarm clock, or save $70 on a Levoit stick vacuum for keeping their space nice and neat.
