If you're a fan of the Despicable Me franchise, you know the fart blaster—it's appeared in every single one of the movies. An invention mistakenly created by none other than Gru's kooky gadgeteer Dr. Nefario, the fart blaster loudly releases stinky gas that's powerful and smelly enough to stun the enemies—not silent or deadly, just plain gross.
Two years ago, to celebrate the release of Despicable Me 4, the franchise launched The Ultimate Fart Blaster—a kid-friendly version of the beloved gadget and a Good Housekeeping Best Toy Award winner.
It went absolutely viral and sold out almost every time it came back in stock. Now, the brand has released a new version: the Fart Blaster Pro.
I got to test the Fart Blaster Pro this year, and for the most part, the two seem pretty similar—but that’s not a bad thing.
For starters, the new version makes the same hilarious sounds, including the infamous Minion laugh and more than a dozen variations of funny flatulence, ranging from small and squeaky farts to wind-breaking blows. Both also shoot out rings of fart smoke. Most fart toys only make silly sounds, so our kid testers especially loved this feature.
One parent shared, "He got a kick shooting it around the house and trying to walk through the fart smoke (and blasting at his parents)." Another added, "Both my kids loved playing with this and blasting each other with the farts."
There are two key differences: the latest version comes with two new fart juices that Produce the “stink smell”—one is bubble gum. And the pro is bigger, but the vials of liquid it comes with aren’t any bigger than the previous version.
And that was really the only complaint from one kid tester about the original: "It didn't have enough fart juice." A couple of parents pointed out that their kids were disappointed when the two included bottles of fart formula ran out. Luckily, though, you can now purchase refills, which you weren’t able to do before; you get four for just $10.
So while the two are very similar, if you weren’t able to get your hands on one a few years ago, now’s the time to go pro.
