With Summer approaching, I’m bracing for long, crowded commutes on New York City’s subway. Already, Spring temperatures have soared past 80°F, making it nearly impossible to arrive at work without sweating or my makeup melting off. Luckily for me, Shark recently launched the Shark ChillPill in a three-in-one personal cooling system that has me feeling ready for Summer like never before.

I’ve had my eye on this device since it launched, and I knew it would be a hit in the city. But it’s clearly thriving in the desert, too—attendees at Coachella have been raving on social media about how much they love the ChillPill.

With global superstar Justin Bieber headlining the festival for the first time this year, it makes perfect sense that Shark teamed up with his clothing brand, SKYLRK, to debut a fresh limited-edition colorway: SKYLRK Heat. Now, Beliebers heading into Coachella’s second weekend (April 17–19) will be ready to beat the heat while supporting their favorite artist.

How does the ChillPill work?

The ChillPill features three interchangeable attachments: a high-speed bladeless fan, a misting pod and an InstaChill cooling metal plate. The instructions include recommended settings for different situations, so I adjusted mine based on how hot I felt.

The fan offers 10 speed levels, each increasing airflow and intensity. I found level 6 worked best during my 10-minute walk to the train station, while levels 3 or 4 were ideal when I was standing still and waiting for my ride on the platform.

The mist can be set to constant mode for a steady stream or to interval mode for pulses of dew. The cooling plate—which offers cryo-inspired, on-contact cooling—has two levels, allowing you to control how cold you want it. The cooling plate is my favorite feature because you can place it on sensitive spots like your neck and wrists, which really helped cool me down once I was finally able to sit down and take a breather at the station, which often overheats during high temperatures.

Where can I buy the ChillPill in SKYLRK Heat?

While other colorways of the Shark ChillPill are available on Amazon, the SKYLRK Heat version is exclusively available on Shark’s website for $150. However, if you want this hot color, you'd better hurry because it will only be available while supplies last, and they’re selling fast.

Final thoughts

It’s official, I’m swapping my old handheld fan for this device. I love that it’s compact yet mighty with multiple settings. Oh, and I love the orange hue. It’s easy to spot at the bottom of my purse — plus it’s giving Coachella festival vibes all summer long.
