My home has built LEGO sets on every bookshelf, and I can say it’s not my 11-year-old daughter who put them together—it’s my husband. (My daughter likes playing with the sets once he's finished building them.) He’s one of the many, many adults who find LEGO building to be a cozy hobby, something that’s shown to be a boost for mental health.

Our top picks

For all of the others like me out there living with an AFOL—an Adult Fan of LEGO—these are the best LEGO sets for adults. Many of these are sets with fan-favorite pop-culture characters, like those from Star Wars, Pokémon, or '80s movies. Others are from the Botanicals line, which lets builders tap into their inner flower-arrangers, and the Ideas line, which is conceptualized by fans. Some have even earned the Good Housekeeping Seal, which means they've gone through rigorous testing. The big sets can be pricey, but all the more reason to use rewards points to score free LEGO sets.

The only question left to answer: Where will these sets go when they're all assembled?

Builders can make a serene scene with this Seal-holding set, which features a pavilion, an arched bridge, a stream, koi fish, lotus flowers, trees, rocks, and stone lanterns that can be arranged to the heart's delight. The pavilion can even be opened to reveal a tiny tea set inside. Reviewers noted that, even though this is a set geared towards adults, the build isn't too much of a challenge. Ages 18+

There’s so much detail packed into this set: First, there’s the elegant exterior of the Downton Abbey manor to build. Then wheel it around, and there’s an upper level with a dining room, main hall, and library, and a lower level with a kitchen, servants' hall, and Mr. Carson's office. It also comes with 13 different minifigures to place in the various quarters. Ages 18+

For LEGO Botanical fans who want to get into the holiday spirit, the Poinsettia plant is back! (Almost: It ships out October 24.) At a little over 600 pieces, it’s just enough to make five clusters of red leaves. And, for other festive LEGO sets, there’s the LEGO Holiday House, the holiday countdown calendar, Mrs. Claus, and Buddy the Elf. Ages 18+

I want to believe...that this X-Files LEGO Ideas set is the perfect addition to any shelf. It has a unique, multi-level design: On the bottom floor, there’s Fox Mulder’s office, and above, there’s a forest where unexplained phenomena unfold. A UFO hovers above it all. The scene comes with Fox Mulder, Dana Scully, Walter Skinner, Mr. X, Alex Krycek, Carl Busch, a gray alien, and (ugh) The Flukeman, and there are tons of details and Easter eggs in the office, including the iconic I Want to Believe poster. LEGO Orchid

LEGO's Orchid set doubles as a fun activity and a great home decor piece. If you're looking for a set that's beautiful enough to display in your (or your mother's) living room, look no further. It's easy to adjust and rotate each stem and bloom to sit exactly how you want them to, and it brings a pop of color to any room. Ages 18+

There are so many little details in this set that bring the fantasy world of The Lord of the Rings into the real world, from the individual ceiling tiles to the statuary that stands guard around the tower. Even the artwork that hangs in the hall details memorable moments from the epic saga—and are great Easter eggs for fans. There's an armory, a gazebo, a forge, the formidable Council of Elrond, and 15 minifigures (which is a good thing, because we all know 13 is bad luck). And, for those who really want to re-create Middle Earth, there's also Minas Tirith. Ages 18+

They don't need to use The Force to complete this 7,541-piece set—just a lot of time (and patience). But if they complete it, the Star Wars fan in your life will be rewarded with a ship that looks just like the real thing. Inside, there are tons of features to delight fans, including a holographic Dejarik area, a combat training helmet, a cockpit, and an engineering station with a rotating seat, and 10 minifigures to keep the whole thing running. Testers said that the final version has a huge "Wow" factor. To turn it into a family affair, there's also a smaller Millennium Falcon set for $85. Ages 16+

The creepy Creel House is unmistakable to any Stranger Things fan. The Victorian-style house has seven rooms inside—including Vecna's lair. The set also comes with two vehicles, the WSQK van and Steve's car, along with 13 minifigures. Ages 18+

It's hard to fully convey just how massive this LEGO Titanic replica is—it's the fourth-largest LEGO set ever, in fact, after the World Map (which has the most pieces, but is sadly retired), the Eiffel Tower (which stands the tallest and is available now), and the Sagrada Família (which will be released on November 1).

Before it's opened and put together, the box with all the pieces in it weighs more than 30 pounds by itself! When completed, it's a 1:200 scale model of the real thing, and there are cross-sections that show interior details like the first-class dining room, grand staircase, boiler rooms, and cabins. If you turn the propellers, the piston engines inside move (and you can also raise or lower the anchor or adjust the tension line between the masts). Ages 18+

With Avengers: Doomsday on the horizon, everyone’s doing their Marvel re-watches—which is the perfect time to sit down with this set, which includes several landmark locations. It includes Avengers Tower, the Daily Bugle, the Baxter Building, the X-Men Mansion, and the Wakandan Embassy, along with seedier locales like Hammer Industries, Roxxon Corporation, Oscorp Industries, and Fisk Tower. Just watch out for Galactus! It’s available for pre-order now, and ships on January 1, 2027. Ages 18+

This LEGO set doesn't come out until November 1, but when it does, it'll be a doozy—the largest LEGO set ever! It'll clock in at 12,060 pieces. The only question is whether or not LEGO builders can finish it faster than the real thing was built. (For the record, the actual Sagrada Família in Barcelona took 144 years to complete.) Ages 18+

Snoopy is having a moment, and for those who can't get enough of the adorable Beagle, this set lets builders keep all that Peanuts charm on a shelf. The Snoopy can be posed so he’s sitting up, lying down, or standing. It comes with Woodstock and Snoopy's typewriter, along with a nighttime backdrop so Snoopy and Woodstock can roast marshmallows over a campfire. Ages 18+

Technically, this set isn't just for adults—but who loves hummingbirds the most? It's a great one for adult builders who don't want to be too challenged, since it's for builders age 8 and up. The same pieces can be used to make a tropical fish or a butterfly, but the hummingbird is definitely the most striking. Ages 8+

Sure, this set is Jurassic Park-themed, but you'd never know it unless you spy the minifigures of Ellie Sattler and Alan Grant. Otherwise, it looks like something you could pick up in a gift shop at a natural history museum. The detailed skeleton model set is made with more than 3,000 pieces, and when it's done it rests on a display-worthy stand. There’s also a Triceratops Fossil skeleton, or, for those who want less of a challenge, there’s the T-Rex skull (577 pieces), or a Triceratops Skull (468 pieces). Ages 18+

Disney parks fans can picture Main Street, U.S.A. at a moment's notice—the sights of the shops, the music, the smell of cotton candy. Fans can assemble more than 3,800 pieces to re-create beloved locations like the Fire Station, Disney Family apartment, the Crystal Arcade, and the Emporium with this set, which also comes with a whopping 16 minifigures so it feels as crowded as the real thing. (My favorite? The Dapper Dans quartet!) Ages 18+

In addition to R2-D2, another LEGO Star Wars set that boasts the Good Housekeeping Seal is The Mandalorian's N-1 Starfighter. Ages 10+

For those who use their LEGO building time to relax, this set is great for getting in the zone—builders can scan a QR code to get access to a soundtrack that's tailor-made to listen to while putting this set together. When it's finished, it can be hung on a wall as a unique piece of 3D art. And for those who love the artistic sets, a version of Gustav Klimt's "The Kiss" is available now. Ages 18+

With 1,685 pieces, including details inspired by the real architectural details like the torch and detailed pedestal, this set is a great addition to anyone's home who loves travel, architecture, or design. Even seasoned LEGO testers noted the impressive sculpting for this updated Statue of Liberty set. Ages 16+
