While the Peanuts have been in the cultural ether since the ’50s, it’s clear Snoopy is having a moment. There’s the popular Snoopy In Style exhibition in New York City, which has drawn crowds so big the line to get in went over the three-hour mark. There’s a new Great Pumpkin-inspired Starbucks collection, including a Snoopy-and-Woodstock cold cup that’s sure to sell out fast. And, now, there’s a new Joe Cool collection coming to Macy’s, to go with the just-announced Joe Cool giant character balloon that’ll be in this year’s 100th Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.

A Snoopy balloon has been part of the parade going back to 1967, when there was a balloon inspired by You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown. Since then, he’s shown up in the parade 45 times, appearing as an astronaut, an ice skater, a millennium reveler, and a Beagle Scout.

This year, he’ll appear for the first time as Joe Cool, his laid-back, campus persona, with Woodstock on his shoulder. According to Macy’s, his signature shades are 40 times larger than a standard pair of sunglasses, and his doghouse would have to be 45 feet high to be able to accommodate him.

Macy's
Snoopy’s easygoing Joe Cool vibe.’

Since Joe Cool’s vibes are impeccable, it’s no wonder he’s a style icon in his own right. Which is a lucky thing for Peanuts fans, since Macy’s is also debuting its own collection celebrating Snoopy’s parade style over the years, starting with a T-shirt that features Snoopy in his various parade guises, and a sweatshirt that captures the new balloon floating over the New York City skies. (I can’t play Joe Cool about this one. I want it.)

But the collection extends beyond clothing, and includes collaborations with brands like BaubleBar, Loungefly, Super 7, and the Woobles. There are plush little Snoopys to collect, mugs and blankets to keep cozy with while watching the parade on a November morning, all the way up to a crystal-encrusted Snoopy bag charm for $78.

The collection will be available tomorrow, September 16, online and in Macy’s stores. Then, it’ll only be 71 days until the balloon flies overhead on Thanksgiving!
