While there’s nothing more freeing than a backless dress on a hot summer afternoon, finding the right sticky bra to wear with them has taken a lot of trial and error. To ensure you don't waste your money on one that'll fall off after a few sweaty hours, I’m sharing a list of options that’ve been recommended by our style pros and bra experts in the Good Housekeeping Institute Textiles Lab.

Our top picks:

I personally wore five of them while considering how visible they were under tight clothing, their comfort, how easy they were to put apply, and how well they stayed in place throughout the day. Our top pick is the Puff Body Invisible Strapless Sticky Bra because of how invisible it is under clothes and creates cleavage as well as its long-lasting stickiness.

Pros

  • Plastic board for storage is easy to use and prevents hair and dust from sticking to the bra
  • Adds cleavage and a lifting effect
  • Smooth and invisible under clothing
  • Sticks to skin all day

Cons

  • Not available in a wide range of skin tones

WHY WE LOVE IT: Puff Body is a new bra brand, but they truly hit the ground running with their Invisible Strapless Sticky Bra. It is comfortable to wear, lasts all day, looks seamless under clothing, provides a bit of a push-up effect, and has an innovative storage design.

Amanda Constantine, the home and apparel reviews analyst in the GH Textiles Lab, bought this sticky bra and loved it. "By angling each cup, I’m able to create some cleavage. The adhesive lasts all night long but doesn’t pull or hurt when removed," she shared. This bra only comes in two colors, and I wish it came in at least one more option. The brand claims you can use this sticky bra over 20 times, so be sure to hand-wash it with soap and water and let it air dry after each wear to keep it in good condition for as long as possible.

MY EXPERIENCE: Among the five styles I wore, this was by far my favorite because it was perfectly smooth against my skin, provided the most lift, and looked invisible under my clothes. I'm actually wearing it under a summer dress right now as I type this at the end of a work day, and it hasn't lost its stickiness once in the past eight hours.

When I first opened this sticky bra, I was confused by the packaging. It comes with a flat plastic board for storage rather than a plastic cling backing. Constantine said this "helps prevent hair and dust from sticking when not in use," and I also found it so much easier to put away. It usually takes me a few minutes to perfectly align the plastic wrapping up wth the sticky side, but this one took me a few seconds to adhere onto the plastic board. I wish it came in more skin tones, but it is available in three colors (nude, beige, and coffee).

Pros

  • Extensive size range
  • Feels supportive and secure
  • Plunge design is ideal for V-neck tops

Cons

  • The thick edges can be seen under tight tops

WHY WE LOVE IT: An Amazon best-seller, Niidor's strapless bra features a high-strength adhesive designed to stay on your chest so you don't have to worry about it slipping off. Most importantly, this sticky bra is offered in an extensive size range: You can choose from an A to a G cup. It's available in six colors (there are two additional colors on the brand's site), and there are also breathable options made with spandex and polyester (the standard one is made with silicone).

This sticky bra also has a unique deep-V design that offers a subtle push-up effect and can be great for V-neck tops or dresses. It's lightweight and reusable.

MY EXPERIENCE: I found this sticky bra to be a bit too thick for tight shirts because I could see the top of the cup through the fabric. It looked loads better on a loose, deep V-neck tank top I own that's always difficult to find a bra to wear with. I used to wear nipple covers with it, but I like that the Niidor bra felt sturdy and secure, which I find more comfortable when wearing a flowy top. This will be my go-to sticky bra for looser tops and dresses all summer.

CAKES Body Cleavage Bra™ on a pink background

CAKES Body Cleavage Bra™ on a pink background

Pros

  • Tapered edges made it invisible under tight tops
  • Very thin
  • Lifts and creates cleavage
  • Extensive size range

Cons

  • A bit difficult to get the plastic cling back on

WHY WE LOVE IT: Constantine called CAKES Body "the most well-known sticky nipple cover/bra brand on the market right now." However, these aren't like the brand's nipple covers (which we're also fans of!). Those grip the skin using your body heat, but the Cleavage Bra uses the same sticky adhesive siding as other brands. It has tapered wings that you stick to each armpit and then you smooth each cup against your skin and then close the clasp in the center to create a lifted, cleavage look. I think the tapered wings can be an issue for very low armholes or shirts that show a bit of side boob, though. Also, the size range is extensive (S–XXL), just be sure to check the size guide chart to see which size is suitable for your band and cup size—the range goes from 30A–44G.

MY EXPERIENCE: This sticky bra was one of the most comfortable among the pairs I tried, and I found it to be very thin and invisible under clothing, thanks to the tapered edges. With some thicker sticky bras and nipple covers I have tried, I could see where the edges of the cup were under a tight shirt, but this one was seamless under a snug tank top. I also thought this one created decent cleavage and lifted my chest a bit (second best to Puff among the ones I tried!).

I had a difficult time getting the plastic cling wrapping back onto this sticky bra because the pieces were not much bigger than the bra cups (and one of the plastic sheets even ripped on me!). I was eventually able to cover the entire sticky side with the plastic cling, but I wish it were a bit easier.

Gatherall Bra

Credit: Gatherall

Pros

  • Extensive size range
  • Feels barely noticeable while wearing
  • Adds some lift and support

Cons

  • Application can be tricky

WHY WE LOVE IT: Although it's our most expensive pick at just under $70, this backless bra by Gatherall is a winner. It's designed to provide lift without a clasp in the center, like the rest of the sticky bras on this roundup. That can make the application a bit tricky since you'll have to stretch the bra across your chest (or squish your boobs together) to wear it. We also appreciate the extensive size range, which goes up to a size DD, but that is the equivalent to an H bra size (without a band, sizes are a bit different for sticky bras!). It's also available in four colors, including three skin tones and a plain black one.

WHAT OUR EXPERTS AND EDITORS SAID: Multiple editors at GH told me they own and love the Gatherall Bra. I didn't get to try it for myself, but they all found it to stay in place for multiple hours and be comfortable to wear. Textiles Lab Associate Director Emma Seymour is a fan of this reusable bra because she finds the smooth surface looks more natural under silky fabrics. "I have this one top where this is the only bra that works," she said.

One GH editor called the Gatherall Bra her favorite sticky bra she has tried, and said it adds support and lift yet feels barely noticeable. "Other silicone bras I've tried feel heavy or pull down, but this one is really lightweight and stays put. The adhesive is strong, and the material is perfectly smooth, so there are no lines; it just looks seamless under clothing," she shared.

Best with padding

Nippies Flex Bra

Pros

  • Easy to apply in the correct spot
  • Padding for added size to the chest
  • Stretchy and sticky

Cons

  • Thickness makes it a bit more noticeable
  • Only one color

WHY WE LOVE IT: Built with padding, this sticky bra is great if you like some added volume. It's made with polyamide and spandex, rather than silicone like many other sticky bras, and the inside has a sticky adhesive while the outside is a plush fabric. This reusable bra is available in four cup sizes, but it only comes in one color, which is a shame since the brand's nipple covers come in many shades.

MY EXPERIENCE: This was the thickest sticky bra I tried, and it can be great if you're trying to increase the appearance of your chest size. Just note, the thickness made the edges of this bra more noticeable under tight tops, but it was less noticeable with dark clothing or looser tops.

While putting on sticky bras became easier the more I wore them, I was a bit confused about where to place them at first. That's why I really loved how the Nippies Flex Bra had a circle on the inside of each cup to show you where your nipple should be to ensure you apply the bra in the right spot. I also found this sticky bra to be the stretchiest one I tried. When I pulled the cups together and connected the center clasp for some added lift, I was able to really pull at it without the bra peeling off from my skin (perhaps that's the spandex talking!).

Pros

  • Reusable more than 50 times
  • Lightweight feel
  • Good for low necklines

Cons

  • Sizing can be tricky

WHY WE LOVE IT: Lightweight and thin, this sticky bra is another excellent option. The brand claims you can wear this bra more than 50 times, which makes it the most reusable pair on this roundup. I've worn the brand's nipple covers for months now, and they haven't lost their stickiness yet. This bra also has a clasp in the middle to pull the boobs together and create cleavage.

MY EXPERIENCE: Be sure to check the sizing with this bra. I typically wear a 30D, so I got a D cup, but I should've gone with a C cup according to the brand's size guide—a 32C is my "sister size," but I usually find D cups fit me better. So, this sticky bra was a bit too big on me (but that's my bad!). That made it more difficult to tell if this bra was lifting, but I appreciated that the bra didn't extend upwards too much, so it can be worn with low necklines. I also found this bra to feel comfortable on my skin, yet it stays in place well.

How we choose the best sticky bras

linebreak

To select the best sticky bras, our fiber scientists and style experts in the Good Housekeeping Institute Textiles Lab recommended their personal favorites and researched popular options online to come up with a list of picks. I then tried five of the six bras to compare each and ensure they're worth the money.

When recommending sticky bras, our pros considered specifications like the materials, size range, color options, number of times you can wear it, shape of the bra, and design (clasp, no clasp, etc.). For the bras that our pros and editors personally tried, they shared their thoughts on the comfort, ease of use, durability, stickiness, and how they looked under clothing. When I wore each of the five sticky bras, I considered the same factors and took photos of each pair under the same tank top to compare their visibility under tops.

How to choose the best sticky bra for you

linebreak

The sticky bra that is best for you may be different than one that's best for me or any other woman. All six picks on this list are great options, but to narrow down which will work for you, consider the following factors:

✔️ Color: Some sticky bras only offer one or two colors, but most offer around four shades. If you are wearing a sheer or light-colored top, a bra closest to your skin tone will look the most seamless.

✔️ Center clasp: Most of our favorite sticky bras have two separate cups with a clasp in the center to connect them, which also helps you easily create cleavage. Some sticky bras do not have this center clasp, though, and come as one full piece. That can make it a bit harder to fit the bra properly because you'll need to stretch it across your chest while holding it down to keep it from slipping off.

✔️ Size: Sticky bras don't have the most inclusive size range if you have a large chest, but the Niidor Adhesive Strapless Bra offers up to a G cup. Otherwise, most sticky bras are only offered for A to D or DD cups. Be sure to check the size guide, too. If you wear a smaller band and larger cup, you may need to go with your "sister size" (for example, I wear a 30D bra, which makes my sister size a 32C, and the C cup sticky bra sizes are a better fit for me).

✔️ Neckline: Take note of the neckline of the top or dress you are planning to wear with the sticky bra. If it has spaghetti straps with a low neckline, you'll need a sticky bra that won't peek through. If it has a V-neckline, the sticky bra can have higher wings for support by the armpits with a deep-V cut.

✔️ Reusability: All of our picks are reusable, but some can be worn more times than others. Some bras are a bit pricier, but they can be worn over 50 times. Others may have a thinner design, but can only be worn around 20 times. So, consider whether the number of wears you can get out of the bra is important to you.

Do sticky bras really work?

double line break

In short: They sure do! "In our evaluations, the adhesive really does stay secure, even after hours of dancing," says Seymour. But to get the most out of your sticky bras, it's important to prep your skin first. Seymour recommends washing and drying your skin, then properly positioning the bra before placing it on your chest. It's also important to note that if you sweat a lot on a particularly hot or humid day, this can loosen a sticky bra's adhesive quality. Some sticky bras are designed to be worn during sweaty activities like working out, but others may not be as effective.

Is it best to size up or down for sticky bras?

double line break

As is the case with most bras, it's best to shop true to size. Pay attention to any sizing information the brand includes online, as well as shoppers' reviews. It make take a few tries to figure out the right size and style of sticky bra for your needs, but most aren't as pricey as traditional bras.
