Costco's Christmas aisle is a dangerous place for anyone who loves holiday decorations. You go in for groceries, and suddenly you're carting home a giant wreath and a light-up team of reindeer. This year, though, the Holiday Infinity Mirror Christmas Tree is what's caught my eye—and once you see how it works, you'll understand why.
At first glance, it looks like a colorful, illuminated Christmas tree. But look closer, and you'll notice what appears to be an endless tunnel of twinkling lights stretching deep into the decoration. It's almost like peering into a tiny, festive alternate universe. Amazon has a similar one in stock, and it’s over 40% off.
So, how exactly does it work? Infinity mirrors use reflective surfaces to bounce light back and forth, creating the illusion of depth. Costco's version takes the shape of a classic Christmas tree, complete with a glowing yellow star on top, bright green branches, and colorful red, blue, and yellow lights that look like ornaments. (The version on Amazon is missing the colorful ornaments, but it has blue and red presents underneath.)
Thanks to the double-sided mirror design, the lights appear to repeat endlessly, creating a tunnel-like effect that makes the tree look much deeper than it actually is. And because the design works from both sides, you don't have to worry about which direction it's facing.
It comes with a black display stand, plugs into an outlet, and weighs just 2 pounds, so it's easy to move between a mantel, entryway table, or windowsill. It could even make a fun addition to a collection of vintage ceramic Christmas houses or colorful bottlebrush trees. Just keep in mind that it's designed for indoor use only.
