It’s not often that a father-son duo manages to have the same job at the same time—but Mark Consuelos and his son, Joaquin, have pulled it off.
In the spring, both Mark and Joaquin made their Broadway debuts in revivals of Tony Award-winning plays. The Live With Kelly and Mark star performs as Marcos Duclos in Fallen Angels, and his son, in his first acting role since graduating college in 2025, plays young Biff Loman in Death of a Salesman. Recently, Mark and Joaquin spoke to the New York Times about the experience.
Mark said having the chance to be on Broadway at the same time as his son was totally unexpected.
“It took a couple weeks for us to actually realize we were going to be onstage at the same time, and that it was interesting, and odd, and cool,” Mark told the outlet for an article published on June 1. “[Joaquin] started rehearsals before me, so I leaned on him a little bit. In many ways, he was letting me know how the process worked. And he’d joke around, every step of the way, saying, ‘You don’t need to be nervous, Dad. It’s going to be OK!’”
But as Joaquin noted, he found comfort in knowing he wasn’t alone in this new chapter.
“It’s definitely a father-son experience,” he added. “It’s something we both wanted to do, and we’re super lucky to be doing it at the same time … I’m going to miss it. It is cool—we have so much to talk about.”
Fans can catch Joaquin on the Great White Way until Death of a Salesman closes on August 9. Fallen Angels closes on June 7, coincidentally the same night as the 2026 Tony Awards. While neither is nominated this year, who knows? Maybe this will be the start of working together on a larger scale!
