New season 3 episodes of Tracker air every Sunday on CBS.
Fans learned that major changes are underway for the hit drama, which will affect season 4 when it premieres in the fall on CBS.
Star Justin Hartley spoke out on the surprisenews ahead of the season 3 finale.
There are a few big changes ahead for Tracker.
As the final episodes of season 3 air on CBS each Sunday leading up to the May 24 finale, fans can expect two things: a brand-new case for Colter Shaw (Justin Hartley) to solve every week and more clues about his traumatic family past, including the truth behind his father’s death.
To keep things fresh for season 4, the show is changing filming locations. As Deadline revealed in an exclusive announcement on May 4, the hit drama is relocating from Vancouver, Canada, to Los Angeles when production resumes for season 4 in late June 2026.
When news of the surprise changebegan to gain traction on Instagram, fans had a lot to say.
“I'm sure everyone is excited and happy to be coming home,” one person wrote in the comments. “This is huge for LA,” another agreed. “Awesome!!! Hoping this is the start of more shows coming back to LA!” a different viewer added.
On the other hand, some fans had concerns.
“Hmmm. One of the things I love most about the show is the beautiful woods where he did a lot of his tracking. I wonder how that will affect the ambiance,” one person noted. “NOOOOO! Vancouver has such a great personality and mood. LA is boring,” another lamented. “It’s gonna lose its magic. The environment is a big part of why the show works!” a different follower noted.
There was a major reason for the move. As Deadline noted in its announcement, the show returned to the U.S. as part of a $48 million tax credit from the state of California. Meaning: It will now be a touch cheaper to film the procedural drama after three seasons of being in Canada.
“I’m proud of what we built in Vancouver. I’m also very excited we’re bringing Tracker to L.A.,” Justin said in a statement to the outlet. “I’m looking forward to continuing to tell these stories alongside the new, fresh places we’ll be heading to next. Most importantly, I want to thank the fans for showing up for us every step of the way. We couldn’t do this without you.”
