The latest NCIS spinoff series, NCIS: New York, will premiere on October 6, 2026, on CBS.

The first look at NCIS: New York dropped on Instagram on August 18 and features lead actors LL Cool J and Scott Caan.

Fans think they spotted a major plot hole for the new show.

It’s almost time, NCIS fans: the franchise is hitting the streets of New York.

Back in April, viewers were ecstatic to learn about the upcoming spin-off, NCIS: New York. Set to premiere on Tuesday, October 6, 2026, on CBS, the show will follow Sam Hanna (LL Cool J, who played the same role for 14 seasons on NCIS: Los Angeles) and agent Nick Schaeffer (Scott Caan). As the two solve crimes in Manhattan, they will be joined by new agents played by Jennifer Beals, Shane Harper, Jacqueline Byers, and Devin Druid.

In a recent sneak peek on Instagram, fans got to see LL Cool J and Scott in the show.

“LL COOL J and Scott Caan star in the all-new series, NCIS: New York, premiering October 6 on CBS,” the caption read on August 19.

Eagle-eyed fans pointed out that LL Cool J and Scott have shared the screen before. The two appeared in a crossover episode with NCIS: LA and Scott’s previous series, Hawaii Five-0, where Scott played Danny Williams.

“Should have left him as Danny. I don’t get why they changed his name when NCIS and Hawaii 5- 0 are in the same universe,” one person wrote in the comments. “WOW JUST WOW!! 🔥❤️. They'll both make a great partnership, but also confused why Scott didn't just stay as DANNO - Because of his previous NYPD background in Hawaii 5-0 🤷,” another agreed. “I can’t freaking wait!!!!! Just wish Scott was Dano instead of this new character! 😢,” a different follower added.

Despite the unexpected comments about NCIS: New York, it doesn’t detract from the fact that the cast is excited for the new spinoff.

“Seeing [Sam Hanna] in a New York setting, the New York vibes, the New York streets, it’s gonna be interesting,” LL Cool J told Deadline back in April. “And then on top of that … he’s a superhero. This is a guy who puts his life on the line for his partners, for his friends, for the people he loves, for his country. And I think that’s cool.”

We’re so excited!
