Your go-to store for affordable furniture, home goods, and Swedish meatballs is making waves with it’s newest innovation.
IKEA recently released news of the return of the IKEA PS collection. And one of the standout pieces that has everyone talking is an inflatable chair.
“Driven by the question whether air as a material could deliver the same comfort as foam, [designer Mikael Axelsson] hand-welded 20 prototypes - trying everything, including a tractor tire - before landing on a solution: two separate adjustable air chambers held within a tubular chrome frame, giving the chair stability and a compact silhouette,” the press release states about the chair.
And TikTok creators were quick to share their thoughts.
In an April video, creator camillelenore said that she was excited when she saw initial images, until she learned more about it. “You guys it’s literally a blow up chair,” she said.
“I’m sick of the ‘boneless’ epidemic 😤 no I don’t want a foam or inflatable furniture. It cheapens everything,” one person agreed in the comments of the video. “I was soooo disappointed to see that it was inflatable,” another person added.
Conversely, creator readingslumped shared a video of herself unboxing the chair, which received more positive responses. “Omgg It’s VERY CUTEE KEEP IT IN THE living room! Looks amazing 💕🔥,” one commenter said. “Love the chairrr,” another said.
While the the chair is not yet sold in stores or online, it is set to be released globally on May 13. And according to videos shared on social media, it will be retailing for around $150.
