Hannah Waddingham is known for her red carpet glamour, but there was something distinctly different about her latest appearance. The actress looked as beautiful as ever at the Ted Lasso season 4 premiere but her makeup was noticeably muted, with a golden dress and glowy tan taking centre stage.
Now her makeup artist Stephen Sollitto has shared the exact products behind Hannah’s clean beauty transformation, revealing he used four key Paula’s Choice heroes to tighten, plump and nourish her skin.
‘Hannah has gorgeous skin,’ he says. ‘She takes great care of it.’
Hannah’s Moniquel Lhuillier mini-dress set the stage for Stephen’s beauty makeover, he reveals. ‘Since the dress was so special we wanted Hannah to shine, not the makeup. So we did a simple, clean look on her.’
Dialling down the makeup means amplifying the skincare regime, creating the ultimate youthful canvas for Hannah who turned 52 yesterday.
The prep for Hannah’s ‘clean beauty’ look was founded on two key steps. ‘Exfoliation and hydration are the best keys to makeup prep,’ Stephen explains on his Instagram.
Step one was to use Paula’s Choice 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliant, which he says ‘unclogs pores and controls oil for truly clean, glowy skin’.
Once Hannah’s skin was gently peeled and prepped, Stephen lathered on the moisture with the brand’s Pro-Collagen Peptide Pumping Moisturizer. Stephen says this ‘does the trick with Pro-Collagen Peptides for 24 hour hydration’.
Hannah’s signature smokey eye makeup was swapped for a cleaner look, with just a skinny liner flick and long, curled upper lashes giving a lifting effect. The under eye area was kept clear – no liner, no mascara on the lower lash line – which created a fresh, bright-eyed effect.
Stephen reveals that he augmented this look with Paula’s Choice Eye Peptide. This ‘plays well under concealer and visibly lifts and tightens the eye area,’ he says.
To complete the clean girl look, he opted for a sheer, subtly-tinted balm with skincare benefits build in. ‘The Peptide Gloss Balm is a slice of heaven in a tube,’ he says. ‘I have used it 100 times in a few days. It plumps, smooths, and nourishes instantly AND over time.’
With skin this flawless, who needs any more makeup? Definitely not Hannah Waddingham.
