If, like us, you’re easily swayed into grabbing the scissors and cutting in a fringe, consider this your sign – Nicole Kidman has just debuted the fullest iteration of her curtain bangs yet. Put simply, she looks incredible.
The actress looked gorgeous as she stepped out in sunny Biarritz for the Chanel Cruise 2026/27 show – and the star’s hair made her almost unrecognisable. Though we’ve seen her experiment with wispier fringes (aka her ‘divorce bangs’), this is her boldest move yet.
Beautifully framing her face, full curtain bangs taper into longer, face-framing pieces that wrap around her jaw. She lets the bangs take centre stage, sweeping her lengths into a low bun. Très chic, Nicole.
‘Nicole’s longer, fuller fringe is a beautiful update on the wispy bangs she’s been wearing recently,’ says hairstylist Jason Collier, founder of Studio23 and key opinion leader at Jerome Russell Bblonde.
‘The fuller bangs instantly highlight her facial structure, drawing focus to the eyes and lips, creating that soft, youthful framing effect that makes the whole look feel fresher,’ he explains.
Jason notes that this style of fringe is particularly beautiful on women aged 50-plus, like Nicole. ‘This type of fringe is brilliant for softening the face because it skims over the forehead and blends into the cheekbones, which can subtly lift and contour features,’ he says. ‘It’s one of those haircut details that gives an almost instant anti-ageing effect without needing a dramatic restyle.’
What to read next
If, like Nicole, you’ve been weighing up a lighter style versus something fuller, Jason recommends going all in. ‘What makes this fringe work so well is the density – it feels intentional and polished rather than flyaway or barely there,’ he says. ‘For more mature women especially, a fuller but feathered fringe can be incredibly flattering because it adds softness, disguises any forehead lines and gives hair a thicker, healthier look around the front.’
The photos alone are all the convincing we need – there’s no doubt Nicole looks stunning. For those tempted to try the look, knowing exactly what to ask for is key. ‘For Nicole’s fringe, ask your stylist for a full, feathered, face-framing fringe with soft edges rather than anything too blunt,’ Jason explains.
‘It’s the density through the centre that gives that polished youthful effect, while the longer outer pieces keep it flattering and easy to wear. It’s always a good idea to bring along a reference photo, too.’
