Eva Longoria has brought back her bob, and it’s bigger and better than ever. The Desperate Housewives star has just unveiled a glamorous ‘bobmaxxing’ hair transformation, proving that sometimes, size really does matter.

Eva showed off her fresh chop at last night’s Global Gift Gala Marbella, turning heads with the full, bouncy styling. Her hairdresser Iván Gómez posted his handiwork on Instagram, writing: 'A fresh new haircut, styling, and makeup – plus whatever else this goddess asks for.'

Eva’s new bob is full and bouncy

Eva had a bob late last year – from Victoria Beckham's hairdresser Ken Paves, no less – but restored her longer lengths by spring. Now she's back on the bob bandwagon once more, and her hair couldn't more on trend.

Eva's new style fits perfectly into the current viral ‘maxxing’ trend, where every regime from sleep to skincare is being amplified. And yes, bobs are very much part of that social media landscape. Well, why just have a bob when you can bob max?

‘Eva’s bobmaxxing look is what we call the choppy lob, or longer bob,’ explains Carol Ritchie, OSMO Ambassador and owner of Carol Ritchie Hair in Portsmouth. ‘It’s got more of that lived-in bob style with texture and movement cut into it, which give it more volume.’

Bigger hair doesn’t mean bigger upkeep, however. ‘This look is still ultra-low maintenance, which we older women want in our life,’ adds Carol.

If you’re keen to bob max a la Eva, Carol says it’s a style that can easily be adapted to individual hair texture. ‘It’s not over-styled and the layers make it versatile and easier to wear for most women,’ she says. ‘A good hairdresser will tailor this cut to your face shape and cut it so it sits between your chin and above your shoulders.’

A benefit she sees to this length is that it ‘doesn’t look lank or weigh your hair down. I’m loving her long side-sweeping fringe with this cut too – it really highlights her cheekbones.’

While Eva is blessed with naturally thick hair, Carol says it can work well for thinner hair too. ‘ You can still wear this look if you’ve finer hair, but your hairdresser will cut in longer layers to keep the weight that’s needed.’

To style this look at home, Carol recommends letting texturising spray or powder do all the heavy lifting (without a heavy, starchy look). ‘After washing, spritz with a texturizing spray like OSMO Extreme Root Lifter, and once dry use the OSMO Power Powder. Simply add a little dusting to your root area and use your fingers to massage it in for subtle volume.’

‘This style can actually look great for a few days with very little style maintenance, another win/win for us busy women!’

We couldn't have put it better.
